Best Selling Vacuums

We review and rate many vacuum cleaners and some tend to sell much better than others.  Whether the best vacuums are the best sellers is another matter, but one would hope that this is the case (although price, features, durability and a number of other factors come into play).  In the past 12 months the top 5 best-selling vacuums on Vacuum Cleaner Advisor include:

#1 - Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum

No big surprise here.  This vacuum appears on our Best Upright Vacuum page as a runner up, and it is very well priced – often between 60USD and 80USD.

Review excerpt: The Hoover U5140900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright vacuum is a good, hard working vacuum cleaner. It has a powerful 12 amp motor, a convenient 8.5 meter power cord, it weights just 8.62 kilograms, and it has a lifetime HEPA 4 stage filtration system. Other features include a dusting brush, headlamp, on-board tools, and full bag indicator. It is one of the higher rated vacuums in the lightweight, low cost vacuum category.  It is a great lower-end vacuum cleaner and is highly rated by consumers, many of which feel that it is an exceptional buy. It is well worth researching this vacuum if you are looking for something low cost, lightweight and efficient.

#2 - Hoover UH30010COM Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Canister

This is our top pick for Best Upright Vacuum.  Recently we have also noticed that prices for this machine at Amazon frequently fluctuate between about 220USD and 299USD.

The Hoover UH30010COM is considered by many consumers to be excellent value for the money.  People give this vacuum cleaner high marks for power, maneuverability, lightweight construction, and a 6-year warranty.  It is also a combination upright and canister vacuum.  There is very little negative written about the Hoover UH30010COM.

#3 - Eureka 4870MZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright HEPA Vacuum Cleaner

Our original review is for the Eureka 4870GZ which has since been replaced with the Eureka 4870MZ, but as the article states these are essentially the same vacuum.  The 4870MZ isn’t as highly rated as some of the other uprights on our site but it remains very popular.  It is often available for under 150USD.

Review Excerpt: In this vacuum cleaner review we find that Eureka’s 4870GZ Boss SmartVac Upright vacuum cleaner has many features that make it a great choice.  If you are looking at vacuum cleaner ratings, this one gets good marks.  The motorized brushroll turns on and off so you can switch from carpet to hard floors with ease and the true HEPA filtration removes dirt, dust and allergens down to .03 microns.  Also the 4870MZ is the latest version but is essentially the same vacuum with a different color scheme.

#4 - Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

There are 3 Bissell Cleanview Helix machines and the 82H1 is the entry level vacuum.  The highest rated Cleanview Helix vacuum is the Bissell 21K3 (although there are limited ratings) – it is also the most expensive.  Approximate costs for the 82H1, 22C1, and 21K3 are 75USD, 90USD and 100USD respectively.

Review Excerpt: The Bissell 82H1 seems to be fairly popular and gets good reviews from most consumers. It is also inexpensive (under 100USD) and is purported to be effective on both carpets and bare floors. Bissell has been providing floorcare products for over 125 years and they are best known for carpet cleaners (they are also fairly active in the community).

#5 - Hoover UH70120 WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Good ratings, a low price and a Consumer Reports Magazine endorsement are likely driving this vacuum cleaners popularity.  Note:  Oddly enough we can no longer find this machine on Amazon.  It is available (at this time) at Sears, Target and Best Buy.

Review Excerpt: This is a reasonably inexpensive bagless Hoover upright with most of the bells and whistles.  It is also viewed favorably by consumers and is a recommended model by Consumer Reports Magazine.  It doesn’t have the long warranty of those vacuums in the Hoover Platinum Series, but the two-years parts and labor warranty is still better than some of the other machines in this price range.
