Bissell 2080 Quicksteamer Powerbrush Lightweight Upright Carpet Cleaner Review

An economical carpet cleaner that does a good job for spot cleaning and smaller carpeted areas.  The Bissell 2080 is also lightweight and very easy to assemble and use.  Consumers, while giving the vacuum positive reviews, have indicated that it may have limitations if you intend to use it to clean very large carpeted areas.  Bissell has been making cleaning tools since 1876 and is renowned for it’s carpet-cleaning products. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009]

Bissell’s Quicksteamer Powerbrush is a fairly lightweight (under 12 pounds) upright carpet cleaner.  It comes with a 4-amp motor and a 0.50 gallon water tank – that you fill with water and cleaning formula. It also has a powerbrush that is used to help agitate the carpet and remove dirt and residue.  The 2080 has a 20 foot power cord, an 8.5 inch cleaning path and is covered by a 1 year limited warranty.  Carpet cleaner dimensions are 15.75” x 9” x 44.25”.

The Bissell Quicksteamer Powerbrush comes in the rather creatively named color “vulcanic satin”.  Bissell also indicates that you may wish to take special care when cleaning certain wool rugs and they recommend carefully following the fabric manufacturers carpet treatment instructions.  Finally, consumers have indicated that the hot water tank is a bit small and Bissell indicate that on average one should be able to clean an area of 64 square feet (or 8 feet by 8 feet) before having to add another tank of water and more cleaning formula.

Reviewing consumer comments from several different sources indicates common likes and dislikes of the Bissell 2080:

PROS

- Inexpensive for a carpet cleaner
- Very easy to assemble and to use
- Lightweight
- Much cheaper than using a cleaning company
- Does a pretty good job

CONS

- You must go slowly (to suck up max dirt and decrease drying time)
- Tank is small so frequent filling and emptying is required

Consumer consensus: An economical choice for cleaning several rooms (or spot cleaning and traffic areas).  Not the best choice for heavy-duty carpet cleaning of an entire house.  Vacuum Cleaner Advisor would also like to add that it would be nice to see a slightly longer warranty period, although, like this carpet cleaner, many machines these days do have a one year warranty.

Consumer ratings for the Bissell 2080 are good as can be seen in the following ratings table:

 Source  Consumer Ratings  #Ratings
 Amazon  4.4 stars out of 5  139
 Epinions  4.5 stars out of 5  9
