Eureka 3684F Pet Lover Mighty Mite Review

Avg. consumer rating = 85/100

Very much a “no bells & whistles” bagged canister vacuum, the Eureka 3684F Pet Lover nevertheless gets good ratings and reviews from consumers.  It is also fairly inexpensive at around the 100USD level (at certain outlets).  Consumers like the fact that it is very lightweight, compact and good on hard surfaces, but point out that the short power cord and low quality vacuum hose are shortcomings.

Consumer Ratings
A review of consumer ratings from various quality sources indicates that, while inexpensive, the 3684F still gets good consumer grades.  See the following table:

 Source  Consumer Ratings  #Ratings
 Amazon  4.4 stars out of 5  43
 Epinions  4.0 stars out of 5  6
 J&R  3.5 stars out of 5  5

Vacuum Features
The Eureka 3684F Pet Lover Mighty Mite canister vacuum is equipped with a 12 amp motor which also powers the blower port (this vacuum doubles as a blower -– helpful in workshops and garages).  It appears to be very good on hard surfaces but there are comments that it is not as effective on carpets (it has a standard floor tool with straight suction and no brushbar).  There is also not ability to adjust the nozzle height so it doesn’t accommodate different surfaces easily.

This canister also comes with HEPA filtration.  A great feature for removing dust, pollen, mold, and allergens from the surrounding air.  HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate air and this level of filter removes 99.97% of all particles 0.3 microns or larger.  A micron is so small it cannot be seen by the naked eye.  This level of filtration is helpful for those suffering from allergies or asthma.

The 3684F Pet Lover is, as mentioned, very light.  It weighs in at a measly 8.6 lbs – indeed quite lightweight for either a canister or an upright.  It also has a small footprint measuring approximately (W x L x H) 11.3 inches x 9 inches x 17.5 inches.  Its size makes it a very good candidate for those with a small condo or apartment.

There are a number of tools included with the 3684F including a crevice tool for reaching into hard to vacuum areas and a combination upholstery and dusting brush.  There is also a Pet Power Paw Turbo tool that is designed to remove animal hair from upholstery and carpet.  This is a handheld tool and is best for couches, furniture, stairs and even automobile interiors. The 3684F also sports a metal telescopic wand.

A safety shutoff feature is used on the Eureka Pet Lover such that the vacuum will turn itself off if it begins to overheat.  Overheating may occur for a number of reasons - if the hose gets clogged or one keeps running the vacuum on a full bag or even filters getting too dirty.

The Eureka 3684F Pet Lover Mighty Mite has a 20 foot power cord (which frankly is a little short) and it also has a fairly large bag capacity at 2.6 quarts.  Bags also seem to be well-priced – see the image to the right.  The cleaning path width is 11 inches which isn’t that wide but given that this is a very compact vacuum it is about right.  It comes only in purple and carries a 1-year warranty.

I had one of these. Couldn\'t get it apart out to empty it, and then the whole vacuum fell and broke. Very difficult to empty dirt, and vacuum tips over when you vacuum. Ended up at curbside in barely a month. Don\'t recommend it. Gat a cheaper model, different brand that works much better.
