The Hoover Presto is a combination stick vacuum and handheld vacuum. The handheld unit detaches from the stick vac and includes several attachments (crevice tool, upholstery tool and dusting brush). Owners give the Presto good ratings citing its light weight, solid construction and quiet operation. Folks also like that it is compact and easy to store. In addition, a motorized brushbar makes this stick vac capable on both carpet and bare floors. However some consumers report that the unit is difficult to push on carpet and that the dust canister is quite small and in need of frequent emptying. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Pro (NV356E) is getting top notch reviews. As a matter of fact, consumers on Amazon - at the time of this writing - have so far given this vacuum a perfect 5 stars out of 5. This machine is similar to the Shark Navigator Lift Away (NV350) but it comes with a special professional dusting bare floor tool, and there are a few other differences as well. Most owners praise this unit for its strong suction, light weight, maneuverability, large dirt canister and Lift-Away feature. [REF Euro-Pro Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Bissell Rewind Premier Pet (model 67F8) is geared towards households with pets and it gets mostly good reviews from owners. Consumers like the automatic cord rewind feature, the easy assembly and the ability of the vacuum to pull up pet hair. Most also highlight that the vacuum has great suction and is reasonably priced. The most significant area of discontent however is the vacuum weight. A number of owners note that the vacuum is a little heavy and in some instances can be a chore to push. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] On paper the Electrolux Ultra Silencer EL7060A sounds impressive. It comes with many features including a sealed HEPA system, suction control, automatic cord rewind and a 5-year warranty. It also has powerful suction, is lightweight and is very quiet. With all of these qualities one would expect this Electrolux canister vacuum to get great consumer ratings – but ratings are lackluster. Owners allude to a number of issues and while some do like the vacuum there are a sufficient number of low ratings to make one take notice. [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Dyson DC39 Animal is Dyson’s latest foray into the canister vacuum market. While the vacuum is still quite new, the data and comments to date indicate they may have a winner on their hands. It has very powerful suction, yet, due to acoustic dampening, manages to be relatively quiet. It is reportedly good on carpet and bare floors, and is also quite capable at pulling up pet hair. Like many Dyson vacuums however it is not inexpensive and some folks feel that too much plastic is used in the vacuum construction. [REF Dyson Vacuum Reviews] We previously looked at another Eureka Pet Lover vacuum, the 3684F canister, and it subsequently ended up on our list of Best Vacuum Cleaners Under $100. In this review we are investigating the more recent Eureka Pet Lover Deluxe upright vacuum (model 8811AVZ). It has been getting good reviews and consumers report that it has strong suction, is reasonably priced, and is very good at removing pet hair. However a few owners find the vacuum rather loud and it also does not have brushbar on/off controls. [REF Eureka Vacuum Reviews] The Miele S7580 Bolero is one of the Premium Class vacuums in the S7 upright series. It is powerful, quiet, maneuverable and loaded with features such as suction control, automatic height adjustment and a special HEPA filter that includes activated carbon for odor removal. Consumer reviews are few but generally very good and most owners are pleased with their purchase. The machine is a little heavy however and, like many Miele vacuum cleaners, it is not cheap. [REF Miele Vacuum Reviews] The Electrolux Ergospace Green gets fairly good reviews and is lightweight, easy to maneuver and very quiet. It works well on hardwood floors and is environmentally friendly being made in part of recycled plastic. The vacuum is also packed in unbleached recycled cardboard. The brushbar is air-driven however and while the Ergospace is effective on bare floors some owners report that it does not excel on carpet. [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] Eureka now has over 10 different AirSpeed models on the market. Consumer ratings for the Eureka AirSpeed AS1051A are not bad, but not stellar - owners like that the machine is light, powerful, and maneuverable but some find it a bit loud. The AS1051A is formally known as the AirSpeed ABS (Advanced Bag System) PET AS1051A and it has a few features that make it popular with pet owners. The vacuum includes a pet hair brush, a pet hair tool (PET Power Paw) and a HEPA filter with charcoal to remove allergens and help eliminate odors. [REF Eureka Vacuum Reviews] This is an inexpensive, bagless upright that is getting good consumer ratings. It is fairly basic but still comes with a number of nice features like HEPA filtration, a carbon filter for odor removal, several height settings, a headlight, and a number of tools and attachments. Owners almost unanimously feel that this unit has powerful suction but some comment that the hose is short and that the vacuum is a bit loud. [REF Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] Consumer ratings for the Hoover Windtunnel Air UH70400 run the gamut from 5 stars to 1 star. For some owners the unit’s respectable suction, easy-to-empty dust canister, light weight and maneuverability make it a great fit for their cleaning needs. But others cite problems with removing and reattaching the hose, limited ability on pet hair, and small vacuum size as issues. This is indeed a fairly compact and light vacuum cleaner and this combination often has both pros and cons. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Electrolux EL6988E Oxygen Canister Vacuum Cleaner is a lightweight, quiet, bagged vacuum with limited consumer reviews at this time. This vacuum also comes with HEPA filtration and consumers do feel it is effective on most surfaces. [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] Consumer ratings vary widely for the Hoover C1660-900 Hush Commercial vacuum. Many owners report that it is powerful, has an easy-to-empty dirt canister, and is a very capable vacuum cleaner. Others, however, feel it is not entirely worthy of the “commercial” designation, citing a short power cord and handle. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Dyson DC41 is a fairly new product from Dyson. It is their latest Ball Upright vacuum cleaner and reviews are quite good to date. The DC41 has undergone significant redesign to optimize performance and the result is a very powerful machine with automatic nozzle height adjustment (and a few more upgrades). Consumers like the long power cord and the machine’s ability to pick up pet hair but some find that the vacuum profile makes it difficult to get under furniture. [REF Dyson Vacuum Reviews] Although there is not much consumer input on this particular machine yet - the comments to date indicate that owners are very pleased with their purchase. This is a lightweight and maneuverable canister vacuum with a motorized brushbar making it capable on both carpet and bare floors. Owners like that the vacuum is quiet, powerful and even has multiple suction settings. However some consumers wish the UltraActive Deepclean EL4300A had more on-board storage for attachments. [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The LG LuV250C is a compact bagless upright vacuum cleaner. It is popular with some owners but not with others. It is well designed and it has strong suction, a motorized brushbar, a long power cord and an easy-to-empty dirt canister. It also uses LG’s Kompressor technology which allows the canister to hold up to 3 times more debris. Some owners comment however that the exhaust air can blow dust away from the nozzle. [REF LG Vacuum Reviews] The Hoover S3670 WindTunnel Bagged Canister vacuums gets good grades from some consumers and poor grades from others. People like the vacuum’s strong suction and stylish looks but are unhappy with its poorly designed hose and overly-plastic construction. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Hoover WindTunnel T-Series UH30300 is not fancy but it is light, has powerful suction, is easy to maintain and is also very reasonably priced. The general owner consensus is that this machine is fairly good value for the money. There are some comments however that the vacuum is a bit loud and that too much plastic is used in the construction. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] Hoover has a number of cyclonic canister vacuums on the market and the Hoover SH40060 is one of the least expensive, yet it gets some of the best reviews and ratings from consumers. It is not widely available and you won’t see it for sale on too many online retail websites (but it can be found at the likes of Amazon, Target and a few others). It comes with a lot of good features and is noted by owners for having strong suction, washable filters and a powered brushbar. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] Ratings for the Hoover UH30600 are very, very good although it is only fair to point out that a large number of consumer ratings for this new machine are not yet available. The UH30600 is a bagged upright designed for both carpet and bare floors. It has HEPA filtration, a long power cord, a range of on-board tools, and seven different height settings. Owners feel that it has outstanding suction and that it is not too expensive (about $150 at certain outlets). Some consumers find it a bit heavy however. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] Consumer ratings for the Dyson DC23 TurbineHead Canister Vacuum are good - not stellar - but typically greater than 4 stars out of 5. For a Dyson it is not too pricey (depending on where you purchase) and it is said to have strong suction, work well on bare floors & rugs, and to be aesthetically pleasing (a lot of folks mention this). On the other hand it is not as effective as the Dyson DC23 Motorhead on carpet due to its air driven brushbar. [REF Dyson Vacuum Reviews 2010] The Electrolux Nimble looks great on paper and has good features but some owners struggle with certain aspects of the machine. As a result, consumer ratings are not as high as one might expect. The machine does have its proponents and some folks swear it is better than a Dyson but there are a number of detractors who feel that it is too heavy, hard to push on carpet and the plastic used in the construction of the machine isn’t sturdy enough. [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Dyson DC26 Multi-Floor City Vacuum Cleaner is the smallest canister vacuum Dyson manufacture and it is indeed small. So much so that the body of the vacuum will fit on a letter sized sheet of paper. It is also powerful (especially for its size) and, as one would expect rather light. Consumer ratings for the Dyson DC26 are very good and it has most of the features of the larger Dyson canisters, however due to its size it is probably best suited for vacuuming smaller areas. [REF Dyson Vacuum Reviews] If you want quality and don’t like to compromise then the Miele Capricorn may be the right vacuum cleaner for you. It is made in Germany, has a life expectancy of some 20 years, and comes with many, many features. The Miele S5981 Capricorn is the top end of the Miele Canister vacuum cleaners and, as expected, it also gets very good ratings from owners. The downside of this machine is that it is expensive. [REF Miele Vacuum Reviews] There isn’t much consumer input on the LG Kompressor Plus PetCare LcV900B canister vacuum yet but the input that can be found is very good. Owners are very pleased with the machine's powerful suction, washable filters and easy-to-empty dirt canister. It also gets good marks for having controls on the handle and being very effective at pulling up pet hair. It does tend to be a little on the heavy side however. [REF LG Vacuum Reviews] The Dirt Devil Dynamite M084650 is very reasonably priced and it receives mostly good grades from owners who are impressed with its strong suction, HEPA filtration, light weight and compact size. It can be found online for between $50 and$60 (at certain retail outlets) and is great for quick pick-ups and small area cleaning such as apartments. Due to its compact size however it may not be the best choice for vacuuming large areas. [REF Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Eureka C5712A is a commercial vacuum and like most commercial machines it does not come with a lot of fancy features, although this one does have a few tools and it uses a sealed HEPA filtration system. It is recommended for UL-listed commercial or heavy-duty residential use. Ratings and comments for this unit are not easy to come by but those that exist seem fairly favorable. [REF Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] In this vacuum cleaner review we investigate the Dyson DC07, a vacuum that rates reasonably well according to what consumers report. There are two Dyson DC07 models – the “All Floors” model and the “Animal” model. These are referred to as the “Origin range”. The “Animal” includes a Carpet Care Kit, a Low Reach Floor Tool (an attachment for easier cleaning under low furniture), and a Mini Turbine Head (special vacuum cleaner head that aids in removing pet hairs from upholstery, stairs, and cars). The “All Floors” model does not have these features but comes standard with a reversible wand, a quick draw hose (instant 17ft extension), automatic adjustment to different carpet heights, and a brush angled to reach between the baseboard and the floor, flicking dust directly into the airflow... [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2008] The Miele Callisto is part of the Miele S5 series of vacuums. The S5 series are Miele’s higher-end canister vacuums, with the S4 and S2 series being typically more affordable. The Callisto has been around for some time and is now paired with the new SEB228 Heavy Duty Powerhead (for both high and low-pile carpet) and the SBB300-3 Parquet Floor Brush (for bare floor cleaning). This canister vacuum gets very good consumer ratings and is said to be powerful yet still quiet. [REF Miele Vacuum Reviews 2010] W.H. "Boss" Hoover bought the patent for the “suction sweeper” from an inventor in 1908. Since then Hoover engineers have been improving upon the basic design, creating a comprehensive range of vacuum cleaner models for both general and specialized cleaning. In this vacuum cleaner rating we look at another in the long line of Hoover cleaning machines; namely the Hoover U5507-900. This bagless vacuum cleaner offers “widepath” cleaning – providing a 14.5 inch sweep, a HEPA filter, stretch hose, several add-on cleaning tools, a headlight (a first developed by Hoover engineers years ago), a furniture guard and a 24 foot retractable cord… [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2008] Miele have been around for over one hundred years and they have been manufacturing vacuum cleaners since 1927. The S2 series of canister vacuum cleaners is fairly recent and the top model in this group is the Miele S2180 Titan. The Titan gets good ratings from consumers and is capable of cleaning all manner of flooring from bare floors to low and medium pile carpet. [REF Miele Vacuum Reviews 2010] This machine seems to have all the key vacuum cleaner features as well as very strong suction. It is also not as expensive as some of the other Dyson uprights, however many consumers love this machine or hate it. It does not get the very consistent high ratings of the Dyson DC25 Animal for example. Owners are pleased with the powerful suction, long cord and large dirt canister however there are numerous comments regarding the less-than-stellar wand design and the noise generated when vacuuming on short carpet. [REF Dyson Vacuum Reviews 2011] The Hoover S3765-040 uses Hoover’s patented WindTunnel technology. Hoover does not go into great detail about how the WindTunnel technology works other than to say their engineers went to great lengths to develop a system that lifts and traps dirt very efficiently without any scattering. Reviews and ratings on this vacuum seem to vary widely, from good on Amazon to fairly average on Epinions. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2008] The LG LuV400T is a very interesting vacuum cleaner with a tremendous range of features and tools. Some of the more atypical features include vacuum RF controls from the wand and a special dust compacting system that allows you to get up to 3 times more dirt in the canister before emptying is necessary. Consumer ratings are quite good and the vacuum is also Certified Asthma and Allergy Friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The cost for this machine tends to be similar (or slightly less) than a Dyson. [REF LG Vacuum Reviews] Owners of the Hoover UH70210 WindTunnel Pet Vacuum give it very good marks for its ability to pick up unruly pet hair. They are also pleased with its strong suction and washable HEPA filter. However some find the hose a little short and the dirt canister tricky to empty. All-in-all consumer reviews are quite favorable, giving the UH70210 consistently 4 out of 5 stars or better. [REF Hoover Vacuum Reviews 2010] The Dyson DC17 Animal gets good customer ratings – and there are many ratings available as this is a popular machine. Consumer comments indicate that it does indeed work very well on removing pet hair from most surfaces. It can be a bit heavy for some folks however. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Eureka Boss SmartVac Pet Lover 4870SZ is a bagged upright vacuum and has been rated as a Consumers Digest Best Buy. It is getting mostly good consumer reviews, but some consumers have highlighted a few issues. The 4870SZ was created for households with pets, and as such comes with several pet-friendly features including odor-eating vacuum cleaner bags, a sealed system, and High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtration. [REF Eureka Vacuum Reviews 2011] The Miele S168 stick vacuum is the latest Miele stick vac and it is slightly more advanced (and more expensive) than the S163. The suction on the S168 is fully variable and consumers heap praise on this machine for its power and its ability to run very quietly. On the downside, even though rather light for an upright, it is considered by many to be a little heavy for a stick vacuum. [REF Miele Vacuum Reviews 2010] The Hoover UH60010 is a self-propelled bagless upright that gets relatively good consumer ratings however they are few. It comes with a large number of features including a handheld pet hair tool, but the warranty on this machine is short at only 1 year. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Bissell 22C1 Cleanview Helix is one of three Bissell Cleanview Helix vacuums on the market today. It is Bissell’s mid-range Helix machine with the 82H1 being the entry model and the 21K3 being the top end. All of these are bagless uprights with HEPA filtration and a number of other features. The 22C1 gets reasonable reviews and is available for under 100USD. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] There are not many consumer ratings available for the Panasonic MC-CG902 Canister Vacuum Cleaner but those available indicate a fairly high level of consumer satisfaction. This vacuum was also recently given a best buy rating from a popular consumer magazine. Folks that use this machine like the quality attachments, retractable power cord and the fact that it is good on hard surfaces however some lament that it does not come with a handheld turbine attachment for cleaning pet hair from stairs or upholstery. [REF Panasonic Vacuum Reviews 2011] The Panasonic MC-UL915 is quite recent, having been introduced in April 2010. It does not yet have many consumer reviews or ratings but those that are available indicate a fairly high level of satisfaction with this bagless upright vacuum. This is a feature-rich machine that is usually available for just over 200USD. [REF Panasonic Vacuum Reviews 2010] The Bissell PROlite (17G5 series) gets a wide range of consumer ratings. It is a bagless, upright vacuum cleaner with automatic height adjustment. It is liked for it’s stylish looks, easy assembly and strong suction while detractors indicate that the attachments do not stay in place, the power switch does not always work and the power cord is too short. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Eureka Airspeed Gold is a relatively inexpensive bagless upright vacuum that provides strong suction through Eureka’s Airspeed technology. It comes with a number of attachments and is also getting good reviews from owners. Consumers like the unit’s powerful suction and easy-empty dirt canister but the vacuum is a bit heavy and several owners note that the filters need to be cleaned frequently. [REF Eureka Vacuum Reviews] The Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Pet Upright Vacuum (model UH30310) is a bagged upright that comes with a few extra tools for vacuuming up pet hair. Consumers report that this machine is indeed very good at picking up pet hair, and they also like the long power cord, the light weight and the fact that it is not too expensive. However some folks wish that the vacuum came with more than one wand and it does have a lot of plastic in its construction. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2011] The Dyson DC28 Animal is another Dyson machine made for households with pets. On average it gets very good consumer ratings. There are occasional grumblings – mostly related to the machines weight, but consumers are generally thrilled with this unit’s powerful suction and ability to remove pet hair from almost all surfaces. This vacuum does not evoke many middle of the road reviews. Most love it but some don’t. [REF Dyson Vacuum Reviews 2010] The Hoover WindTunnel UH70105 is a bagless upright that gets fairly good consumer reviews. A powerful yet relatively light vacuum cleaner, it can often be found for less than $100USD. It comes with a number of tools, HEPA filtration and it carries a 2-year warranty. [REF Hoover Vacuum Reviews 2010] The Miele Leo is powerful, lightweight and quiet - a tough combination to beat. It is part of the S5 series of vacuums which are Miele’s high-end machines and they come with a host of features and options. Consumer ratings are not widely available for this vacuum but those found indicate a high level of satisfaction. [REF Miele Vacuum Reviews 2011] The Electrolux EL6984A UltraSilencer is a lightweight and extremely quiet bagged canister vacuum cleaner. It gets top grades from consumers for it’s ability to clean hard surfaces (wood, tile, lino, etc) and for its quiet operation, but seems to fall a little short when cleaning carpet (in particular deep-pile carpet). [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] Consumer reviews indicate a high level of satisfaction with the Hoover S3865 Platinum Cyclonic Bagless Canister Vacuum. In addition, the Hoover.com site states that is has been rated as a “Best Buy” by Consumers Digest. Comments from those who have purchased the vacuum indicate that it does a great job cleaning both hard surfaces and carpet and that the unit has very strong suction. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] According to the Hoover.com website the Hoover UH50000 TurboPower WindTunnel Anniversary-Edition Upright Vacuum Cleaner is a Consumers Digest Best Buy. It is well liked by consumers, but ratings and reviews (from those who have bought and experienced the vacuum) are limited. The Hoover Windtunnel vacuums do seem to get a lot of repeat customers and this shows a certain level of satisfaction with the brand and products through the years. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Bissell Rewind SmartClean 58F8 is another reasonably priced Bissell vacuum that is getting good consumer reviews and ratings. It can be found online at some sources for under $150 and it comes with HEPA filtration, a retractable power cord, an array of attachments, and a carpet clean sensor that many folks really like. It is also a bagless machine with a respectably long warranty for the price. Some people, however, have commented that it is a little heavy, although it is only just slightly heavier than your average upright. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2011] Manufactured in Germany and new for 2010, the Miele S2 series of canister vacuums range in price from about 300USD for the Olympus to about 600USD for the Titan. It can be a little confusing determining which S2 canister is the right one for your needs. In this review we describe what the Miele Olympus, Miele Delphi and the Miele Titan have in common as well as where they differ. Additionally we discover some of what consumers think of this relatively new Miele S2 vacuum cleaner series. [REF Miele Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] Very much a “no bells & whistles” canister vacuum, the Eureka 3684F Pet Lover nevertheless gets good ratings and reviews from consumers. It is also fairly inexpensive at around the 100USD level (at certain outlets). Consumers like the fact that it is very lightweight, compact and good on hard surfaces, but point out that the short power cord and low quality vacuum hose are shortcomings. [REF Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Shark Navigator (model NV22) is a popular and well-liked vacuum cleaner, but there is now a new model under the Navigator name called the NV350 Lift-Away, and it is getting good consumer ratings. The Lift-Away is similar to the Shark Navigator NV22 in many ways (strong suction, not too expensive, 5-year warranty) but it is also very lightweight and it comes with a detachable canister. [REF Euro-Pro Vacuum Reviews 2011] The Euro-Pro Shark NV22L Navigator gets great reviews, has a solid 5 year warranty and can often be found for under 200USD. We have not looked at a Euro-Pro vacuum before but after repeatedly seeing good reviews and ratings for this particular model, the Euro-Pro Shark NV22L Navigator, we decided to dig a little deeper. We were not disappointed. [REF Euro-Pro Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] This is the first LG vacuum cleaner we have reviewed but we had been noticing that the LG Kompressor Pet Care Upright Vacuum was selling well and getting some decent reviews. It uses Kompressor technology which is an interesting approach to storing and disposing of vacuum waste, and one which many consumers appear to like. Consumer ratings are also quite good for this machine and folks like the long power cord, the washable filters and the Kompressor technology. On the downside some consider it a bit heavy. [REF LG Vacuum Reviews 2010] This is a reasonably inexpensive bagless Hoover upright with most of the bells and whistles. It is also viewed favorably by consumers and is a recommended model by Consumer Reports Magazine. It doesn’t have the long warranty of those vacuums in the Hoover Platinum Series, but the two-years parts and labor warranty is still better than some of the other machines in this price range. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Bissell Healthy Home 16N5 is the newer version of the Bissell Healthy Home 5770 vacuum and it is getting some great reviews and ratings by consumers. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] A quick look at a reasonably new vacuum that appears to be increasing in popularity, the Bissell 21K3 Cleanview Helix Deluxe Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Hoover S3755 WindTunnel vacuum gets mixed reviews although it has been recommended by a leading consumer magazine. [REF Hoover Vacuum Reviews 2010] The Eureka Sanitaire SC3683A is considered a commercial vacuum but plenty of folks seem to be using it in their homes. Consumers like the fact that it is small, light, powerful and HEPA ready, although there are some comments about it being better on hard surfaces than carpet. [REF Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010] The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Hand Vac is designed to vacuum up pet hair. Consumer comments indicate that this handheld does exactly what it was designed to do. It also gets very good ratings from those who have used the machine – typically about 9 out of 10. It is one of the better-rated handhelds that we have had the opportunity to review. Another plus is that it is inexpensive. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Eureka 437AZ is an inexpensive and lightweight upright vacuum that many consumers feel is a good buy - it typically retails for less than 80 USD. It has great suction but is fairly small and according to those who purchased the vacuum, is preferred for smaller areas and not large house-wide cleaning jobs. The vacuum could be considered a hybrid of a conventional upright and a stick vacuum. [REF Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Hoover EmPower is a bagless, upright vacuum cleaner. It is a good-looking machine and comes in only a silver/green color combination (see image in article). It has HEPA filtration, a hush mode for quiet vacuuming and a Power Boost that is purported to help with “hard-to-clean-messes”. This unit gets mixed reviews, with some consumers feeling that vacuum performs well and is an excellent choice for the money (the Hoover EmPower is often priced under 100USD) and other consumers indicating they were not impressed with the machines capabilities. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Panasonic MC UG471 is a fairly basic machine that is not too expensive – a little over 100 USD at most stores. It gets decent consumer reviews and is not too expensive (under 200USD). [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Dyson DC23 Motorhead vacuum cleaner is not the most popular Dyson and there is little written about this particular machine. However the few consumer reviews available do give it good ratings. This is a bagless, canister vacuum with tremendous power and like most Dysons is fairly expensive. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] Like most Miele vacuum cleaners this one works very well, gets great reviews but is expensive - common traits with Miele. It was recently rated by Consumers Digest as a Best Buy. Reviews on this unit are limited but those consumer comments that can be found are overwhelmingly positive. The Miele S163 stick vacuum also comes with a Super Air Clean Filter and an optional HEPA filter, a level of air filtration not overly common with stick vacs. It is recommended for low-pile carpeting and smooth floors. [REF Miele Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] Panasonic is a well known company providing modern appliances to households & businesses worldwide, but they are not particularly well-known for their vacuum cleaners. They do, however, have a fairly wide range of both household and commercial vacuums. One of their well rated canister vacuums is the Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow Lightweight Bag Canister vacuum cleaner. [REF Panasonic Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] There are two Miele S4212 vacuums - the S4212 Polaris and the S4212 Neptune. The base model, the Miele S4212 Polaris is the replacement for the Miele S4210 Carina. It should be noted that the S4212 Polaris is entirely the same vacuum with the same features as the S4210 Carina. The only difference is the color - the Polaris is a light blue color (baby blue) while the Carina is a light yellow. Like the S4210 Carina, the S4212 Polaris is the entry level Galaxy S4 series Miele canister vacuum, and like the Carina it is recommended for short-pile carpeting, area rugs and smooth flooring. [REF Miele Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] After a number of comments asking us to review the likes of Miele, Lindhaus and Sebo we have undertaken our first Miele review. Were we impressed? Well, yes actually. We typically have reviewed some of the more moderately priced brands of vacuum cleaners and the three aforementioned can be a bit pricey, however the Miele S4210 (Carina version at least) can be found at some websites/stores for under 400 USD. Not cheap but then again not over the top for a machine with fantastic reviews and a 7 year motor warranty (yes – 7 years). [REF Miele Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Bissell 82H1 seems to be fairly popular and gets good reviews from most consumers. It is also inexpensive (under 100USD) and is purported to be effective on both carpets and bare floors. Bissell has been providing floorcare products for over 125 years and they are best known for carpet cleaners (they are also fairly active in the community). [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Bissell 3920 Pet Hair Eraser appears to be another in the line of “love it or hate it” vacuum cleaners. Many consumers indicate that it does a great job, has fantastic suction and is good value for the money (several even feel it does a better job on animal hair than the Dyson Animal models). However there are also folks that give this vacuum cleaner less than stellar ratings, citing decreased suction over time, an overly aggressive brushbar and a “messy to empty” dirt canister. [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] Dyson claim that their vacuums don’t clog or lose suction and that they are durable and easy to use. Dysons are certified asthma friendly according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and they have a fairly long warranty (typically 5 years). They are also very popular with consumers. The Dyson DC15 Animal is no exception, and like most Dysons, (with the exception of some of their handheld models), gets very good consumer ratings. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Hoover UH70015 has lifetime washable filters (with HEPA), very strong suction and a lengthy warranty of 6 years. This vacuum used to be fairly expensive (400+USD) rivaling the price of a Dyson, but the price has come down lately (less than 300USD through some sources). [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] A short but sweet review of the Dirt Devil 082500 Breeze Bagless Canister vacuum. This vacuum cleaner gets fairly good reviews and is also relatively inexpensive for a canister vacuum. Consumers indicate a number of pros and cons but in general feel that it is a good buy for the money – particularly for hardwood floors. [REF Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Dyson DC14 All-Floors comes with a motorized brushbar, the standard Dyson Root Cyclone technology (ensuring strong and continous suction) and a lifetime HEPA filter. Coupled with a 5-year warranty this makes for a decent vacuum cleaner and consumer ratings bear this out. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] There are two DC25 models. The DC25 All-Floors and the DC25 Animal. It seems the only difference between the two (besides the color) is that the DC25 Animal comes with an extra tool called the mini turbine tool. Does this make the DC25 Animal worth the extra money? [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] The Dirt Devil M082700 Vision Turbo Canister Vacuum is another in the line of love it or hate it vacuum cleaners. It is a bagless, HEPA vacuum that some consumer like for it’s ability to clean hard surfaces and it’s lightweight, low noise and reasonably low cost (for a canister). However detractors feel that the vacuum under-performs on carpet, has poorly designed attachments and a very small dust container. [REF Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Dyson DC18 is a bagless, upright, HEPA vacuum cleaner. It is Dyson’s lightweight upright, weighing in at 6.7 kg (about 14.7lbs). It has most of the same features as Dyson’s heavier uprights and still delivers 200 air watts of suction power. It gets very solid consumer reviews but, like most Dysons, is not a cheap unit. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Electrolux EL6985B is an interesting approach to a vacuum cleaner, focusing on reducing the vacuum noise level (we wish this was an idea more vacuum cleaner manufacturers would consider). Electrolux have clearly been successful in making the EL6985B quiet – given consumer comments - but how does it stand up to the competition with respect to other key features? [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Hoover U6485-900 Windtunnel Anniversary Vacuum Cleaner is a self-propelled, bagged upright with HEPA filtration. Many consumers are sold on the self-propelling feature and also report that their purchase was based on the vacuum getting top-notch reviews by a leading Consumer Reports magazine. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The U5491-900 is a bagged upright vacuum cleaner that is not too expensive and gets quite good reviews. It does not use a dirt-container like many of the bagless machines today, but instead uses a disposable bag. There is a long standing debate about whether bagged or bagless vacuum cleaners being better – bagged tend to make it easier to dispose of the collected dirt and it is cleaner to throw away the bag and put a new one in. Bagless do not require purchasing and throwing away bags but it should be noted that they often have filters that need to be maintained or replaced and they rely on seals to prevent the dirt-container from leaking. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] This is perhaps the highest rated vacuum cleaner we have had the opportunity to review – it is also a pretty recent addition to the vacuum cleaner market. It should be noted however that at this time we found only 23 reviews. But even so, the average review was 5 stars out of 5 with the machine getting high marks for power, maneuverability, lightweight construction, and a 5-year warranty. There is very little negative written about the Hoover UH30010COM. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] Hoover is a very well established brand. So much so that the British often refer to a vacuum cleaner as a “hoover”. The company manufacturers many electrical household items and has been around since the early 1900’s. They have recently released a series of vacuums coined “anniversary”. This is to commemorate their 100th anniversary - and one of the popular anniversary vacuums is the “Hoover U5786900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner”. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009]< P> Make no mistake about it, this is an expensive machine – presently about 390USD at Amazon - however the reviews indicate that you get what you pay for. This unit gets extremely good ratings/reviews and there were over 190 that we found. This is a pretty solid sample size so clearly consumers that purchased this product (regardless of its cost) feel that it was worth the money and does what it was designed to do. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] Introducing the DC24 Ball vacuum cleaner - the newest addition to the DC Ball family and another upright vacuum cleaner by Dyson. Based on the unique Ball technology this vacuum is likely to be popular among those looking for a lightweight, compact cleaning machine. It will be available in the U.K. after 20 February 2008 and after 10 March in the US. Be sure to check Dyson’s website for the exact date it will ship. They are taking pre-orders at this time... [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2008] The Hoover U5140900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright vacuum is a good hard working vacuum cleaner. It has a powerful 12 amp motor, a convenient 8.5 meter power cord, it weights just 8.62 kilograms, and it has a lifetime HEPA 4 stage filtration system. Other features include a dusting brush, headlamp, on-board tools, and full bag indicator. It is one of the higher rated vacuums in the lightweight, low cost vacuum category. It is a great lower-end vacuum cleaner and is highly rated by consumers, many of which feel that it is an exceptional buy. It is well worth researching this vacuum if you are looking for something low cost, lightweight and efficient... [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2008] In this vacuum cleaner review we find that Eureka’s 4870GZ Boss SmartVac Upright vacuum cleaner has many features that make it a great choice. If you are looking at vacuum cleaner ratings, this one gets good marks. The motorised brushroll turns on and off so you can switch from carpet to hard floors with ease and the true HEPA filtration removes dirt, dust and allergens down to .03 microns. Also the 4870MZ is the latest version but is essentially the same vacuum with a different color scheme. [REF Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2008] The Electrolux EL5020A Intensity Upright is a powerful, lightweight, inexpensive vacuum cleaner. Amazon’s price of 108 bucks right now (as of this writing) seems like a pretty amazing deal - the Electrolux site posts an MSRP of 299.99USD. This is a bagged vacuum cleaner. Some people like a bagged machine because they do not have to clean out a “dirt canister”. However with a bagged machine you do have consumables – in the form of vacuum cleaner bags. Some folks actually clean out the bags and re-use them. [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] The Panasonic MC-CG467 Multi-Surface Lightweight Canister Vacuum Cleaner is a bagged vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter that is not too expensive for a canister vacuum and gets slightly better than average customer reviews.
