After months of use vacuum belts will stretch and this can cause slippage. Fortunately vauum cleaner belts are usually not that expensive and with the use of a screwdriver and some basic instructions most can be replaced fairly easily. Signs that one may need to replace the belt include the vacuum cleaner starting to leave dirt behind (and the hose/filters/bags are not clogged or full), the vacuum self-propulsion starting to drag, or the agitator brush (brushroll) slipping. Hoover categorize belts as either Flat, Round, V-shaped or Cogged. You can see the different kinds of Hoover belts on the Hoover site. Bestselling Hoover Vacuum Belts
