The Hoover Linx Cordless Hand Vac is part of the Hoover Platinum Collection, and as a result comes with the six year limited warranty – nothing to sneeze at.  This is a powerful and stylish handheld vacuum with very long battery life, but it is not cheap.

One would have to say that this is a fairly well-rated handheld vacuum cleaner (although it should be noted that there are not too many ratings to be found).  Several well-known sites provide the following ratings:

 Source  Consumer Ratings  #Ratings
 Amazon  4.1 stars out of 5  15
 Walmart  4.7 stars out of 5  3
 Target  3 stars out of 5  1

The Hoover Handheld BH50015 uses an interchangeable 18 volt lithium ion battery (the charger and battery can also be used with the Hoover Linx Platinum Collection Stick Vacuum).   Lithium ion batteries - unlike the more traditional Ni-CD batteries - provide for fade-free power right up until the time the battery is completely drained of energy.  The fade-free power and length of battery charge is probably one of the most consumer commented upon aspects of the Hoover Handheld BH50015.  In short, consumers like the battery performance of this unit.  There is also a “battery fuel gauge” on the vacuum that lets one know the remaining battery charge.  The Hoover Linx Hand Vac comes with an Energy Star rated battery charger capable of a quick, three hour charge time.

Energy Star rated is often used to describe something as being more “environmentally friendly” but what does Energy Star rated really mean?  ENERGY STAR is actually a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy.  The program involves protecting the environment through energy efficient products and practices - so if a product is Energy Star rated then it has met strict energy efficiency guidelines set by both the EPA and US Department of Energy.
The Hoover Linx Hand Vac also comes with a built in combination brush and crevice tool allowing for delicate cleaning and cleaning in hard-to-reach areas.  Like all bagless vacuum cleaners this one is touted as having an “easy to empty” dust cup.  Consumers seem a little split on this one.  Some feel the dust cup is indeed easy to empty while others find it a frustrating process.  The dust cup is see-through however which is always handy.

There is a fair bit of marketing noise made about the ergonomics, balance and style of the vacuum design.  All-in-all these points are indeed considered favorably by consumers – comments seem to bear this out.  The hand vac is fairly light, weighing in at 3.3 lbs.  In inches the dimensions are 18” x 6.2” x 8.2”.  As previously mentioned this unit carries a 6 year limited warranty on the vacuum as well as a 2 year limited warranty on the battery and charger.

A net-wide review of consumer comments on this vacuum yields these common likes and dislikes of the Hoover BH50015:

PROS
- 6 year warranty on vacuum
- Powerful suction
- Long lasting battery (common praise)
- Built in brush
- Well balanced unit
- Stylish

CONS
- Battery must be removed for charging
- No attachments
- Built in brush sometimes does not stay in place
- A bit expensive
- No wall mount bracket

A video is a great way to see a vacuum in action and although these are often “commercials” they still provide an experience that is difficult to get in the writeup.  Please see the Hoover Handheld BH50015 Platinum Collection LINX Cordless Vacuum Cleaner video.
