The Hoover Commercial Portapower Vacuum, or Hoover CH3000 as it is also known, is fairly new to the market and is the replacement (new version) of the Hoover Portapower C2094.  This is a compact, portable vacuum with good suction and plenty of attachments.  It is also not too expensive.  There are few consumer reviews on this vacuum presently but those that are available indicate that it is a well-liked machine.  The star ratings are also very good, although limited in number.  [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010]

Reviews and ratings are hard to find on this fairly new vacuum, but those that are available indicate a high level of consumer satisfaction as can be seen in the table below.  It should be noted here however that there are only a total of 11 reviews from which to draw ratings and this is indeed a small figure.

 Source  Consumer Ratings  #Ratings
 Amazon  4.9 stars out of 5  10
Home Depot  5 stars out of 5  1

Like the ratings and reviews, vacuum likes and dislikes are hard to come by with limited consumer input (at this time) but there are some general comments of interest.  See the pros and cons listed below:

PROS
 - Nice long power cord
 - Compact & portable
 - Strong suction
 - Long lasting cloth bag that is easy to empty
 - Reasonable price
 - Attachments work well

CONS
 - May lead to sore shoulder if you vacuum for a long time
 - Best on hard surfaces or low-pile carpet (likely not as effective on deep-pile carpet)

The product description and features for this vacuum cleaner are brief as it is a straightforward unit with limited bells and whistles.  It weighs in at only 8.3 pounds  - very light – which is good as it is meant to be worn over the shoulder (with a shoulder strap).  It is a bagged vacuum cleaner, but unlike most bagged machines it uses a reusable 3-layer cloth bag that consumers report is easy to remove, empty and replace.  There is also an option to use paper bags (requires bag adapter kit).

The Hoover CH3000 is powered by a 120 Volt, 7.4 Amp motor that produces 2.2 Peak HP.   Consumers indicate that the Hoover Portapower has lots of suction.  It is also UL and OSHA approved for commercial use.  Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) is a nonprofit, independent product safety certification organization in the US.   The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSAH) is a US federal agency that approves companies like UL for such testing.

The Hoover CH3000 comes with a number of attachments:

- crevice tool
- wall/floor brush
- dusting brush
- furniture nozzle
- rug/floor nozzle

It also has two chrome steel wands, a shoulder strap and a storage strap.  The vacuum is quite compact with dimensions 20.9 x 12.5 x 7.3 inches.  There are a number of favorable comments regarding the length of the power cord which is 33 feet.  Consumers are sometimes unhappy with cords under 30 feet.  The hose on the Hoover Portapower is a stretch-hose that allows for extended reach and also makes storage a little easier.  It has a cleaning path of 12 inches, doubles as a blower, is made from ABS plastic and comes with a Manufacturer’s one-year commercial warranty.  The CH3000 is only available in black.

Several sites list the Hoover Portapower as CRI Green Label™ Approved.  CRI being the Carpet and Rug Institute.  We know little about this organization but they claim approval indicates that the vacuum is a superior cleaning vacuum that has passed stringent testing for soil removal, dust containment and carpet appearance retention.   You can read about this group here if you wish.
