This is perhaps the highest rated vacuum cleaner we have had the opportunity to review – it is also a pretty recent addition to the vacuum cleaner market.  It should be noted however that at this time we found only 23 reviews.  But even so, the average review was 5 stars out of 5 with the machine getting high marks for power, maneuverability, lightweight construction, and a 6-year warranty.  There is very little negative written about the Hoover UH30010COM. What are Consumer's Saying?

Pros
Lifetime LED headlight and belt, very easy to maneuver, excellent carpet cleaning ability, HEPA system, 35 foot cord.

Cons
No feature to turn the brush roll on or off (a little tricky if you want to use this on “nice” hardwood floors).  Bags are a little pricey (but they are very large).

 Source  Consumer Rating  #Ratings

Bagged vs Bagless

The Hoover UH30010COM is a bagged vacuum cleaner.  It does not use a dirt-container like many of the bagless machines today, but instead uses a disposable bag. There is a long standing debate about bagged or bagless vacuum cleaners being better – bagged tend to make it easier to dispose of the collected dirt and it is cleaner to throw away the bag and put a new one in.  Bagless do not require purchasing and throwing away bags but it should be noted that they often have filters that need to be maintained or replaced and they rely on seals to prevent the dirt-container from leaking.

HEPA

The Hoover UH30010COM Platinum also utlizes a HEPA filter.  What is a HEPA filter?  HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air and is a filter that removes 99.97% of all airborne particulates of 0.3 microns or larger that pass through it.  When considering a HEPA vacuum cleaner it is important that the unit passes ALL intake air through the HEPA filter prior to exhausting it – otherwise particulate matter is bypassing the filter and being introduced back into the surrounding environment.  HEPA filtration is particularly popular with allergy sufferers.  This vacuum cleaner has a Type Q upright HEPA bag (for the upright), and a Type I portable canister HEPA bag (for the included canister).

Features & Accessories

This vacuum cleaner features a respectably powerful 12 amp motor (many of the vacuums today have a 12 amp motor but some do not).  It uses the Hoover Windtunnel Technology – which, according to Hoover, means that it lifts and traps dirt very efficiently without any scattering.  There are illuminated fingertip controls for on and off as well as two different speed settings.  There is also a light to indicate when the bag needs to be changed.  It also has a 14 inch wide nozzle and automatic height adjustment.  It weighs less than 12 lbs and measures 15.5 x 13 x 45 inches.  In addition, this machine has a supplementary canister with a carrying strap and a 25 foot cord. The canister carries the crevice and brush attachments on board.

There are quite a few more features on this vacuum as well.  See total list below:

Accessories:
-Hoover handheld canister vacuum
-Tool bracket
-Telescoping extension wand
-Floor brush / Dusting brush / Crevice tool
-Carry strap for canister
-Type Q upright HEPA bag
-Type I portable canister HEPA bag
-Upright & Canister owner's manuals

I purchased the Hoover UH30010COM a week ago from Amazon and so far I must say that the reviews are pretty accurate. This is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever bought. We have several cats and lots of carpet. Our house in now cleaner than it has ever been before. It is also comforting knowing we have a 6 year warranty should anything go wrong. We are Dyson converts and I think we are going to stick with Hoover for a while.

After reading the glowing reviews on the Hoover UH30010COM upright vacuum, I purchased one from Amazon.

Everything you have read about this vacuum is true. It is unbelieveably good. Kudos to the engineers at Hoover. They seemed to have addressed every vacuum cleaner user's wishlist.

The vacuum is quiet, powerful, and able to out clean every vacuum I have ever used. We have area rugs on hardwood floors with a menagerie of dogs and cats. This vacuum sucks up dog and cat hair along with every other particle.

We just bought a Hoover Platinum--Upright bagged because of the great reviews. But we are having a problem. After vacuunming for about 1 minuite, the vacuum turns itself off and the on/off switch blinks. After pushing the button to start again, in about 10 or 20 seconds it turns off again. We tried re-attaching the bag. There is dirt in the bag, so I don't think there are any blockages.

It is Saturday, so we can't try calling customaer service. Any ideas?

As with Europa_rising's comment, we just bought the Hoover Platinum and after 3 minutes the vacuum kept volunteering to turn off. The switch did not blink @ all. I inspected all components wondering if a piece of stryofoam had caused the block and the sensor to shut the machine off, but there was nothing. I am taking this product back as defective.
Mike - 5.5 Amp Motor?   | 75.155.118.98 | 2009-12-27 07:08:11
In the features & Accessories section above it says "This vacuum cleaner features a respectably powerful 12 amp motor". I turned the vacuum over and along with the model number on the plate it says "120V. 60 Hz. 5.5 A."
Any comments?

The 12 amp claim is for some reason the sum of the upright plust the cannister. The upright is really on 5.5 amps and the canister is around 7 amps.

Amps.... how much power it uses....not necessarily suction power.
