Out of the box the Hoover UH70210 does require some assembly (via screwdriver), however owners have indicated that this is very easy to do and the vacuum is up and running quite quickly. It is powered by a 12 amp motor and consumers agree that the UH70210 has very powerful suction. Like many vacuums these days it is a bagless unit that uses cyclonic filtration. Cyclonic filtration spins the air very quickly pushing the dirt out of the airpath. This approach also limits the amount of dirt that the filters are exposed to – keeping the filters cleaner much longer. A HEPA filter comes with this Hoover. HEPA stands for “High Efficiency Particulate Air” and this level of filtration removes 99.97% of all airborne particles with a diameter of 0.3 microns or greater. This typically includes dust, pet dander, pollen, dust mite feces, etc. The HEPA filter on the UH70210 is washable and can be reused over and over. This approach saves money over time. A filter check indicator on the vacuum indicates when the filter needs to be checked or cleaned. The unit also comes with a carbon filter. Carbon is very effective at removing odors, including musty pet smells, from the air. A myriad of attachments is provided with the Hoover UH70210. These include: - A Pet Contour Tool The power cord is 27 feet long. This is fairly long – we always believe a power cord should be at least 30 feet in length but 27 isn’t far from the mark. The power cord has an auto-rewind function (activated via a foot pedal) which is appreciated by consumers. The weight of the UH70210 is 17. 8 lbs and owner reviews and comments allude to this vacuum being both “light” and “heavy”. The vacuum weight is about average and consumer comments appear to be a function of the individual – if you are a large, strong person you do not find this vacuum heavy, but a smaller person may. For those who do not like lifting (especially with a multi-level dwelling) a lighter vacuum is always a good idea. The hose on this Hoover is 8 feet in length. This has caused some negative comments as many owner’s would like more reach. The UH70210 also comes with 5 different carpet height adjustments and this allows for effective transition from one floor type to another. Also, the brushbar on the unit can be turned on or off. This is a very useful feature as one usually wants the brushbar ON when vacuuming carpet, and OFF when vacuuming hard surfaces. In addition, cleaning of the brushroll is made easy because the UH70210 has an “easy access” system whereby flipping two levers provides access to the brushroll and the belt (for easy changing should it be needed). For an average-cost upright the Hoover UH70210 is quite feature rich and it also includes a handle that folds down making for easy storage, a headlight, and a soft bumper to ensure no marring of furniture or walls. The cleaning path of the vacuum is 13.5 inches wide (about average width), and it carries a limited 2 year warranty
