![]() Click to see on Amazon The Hoover WindTunnel T-Series UH30300 is not fancy but it is light, has powerful suction, is easy to maintain and is also very reasonably priced. The general owner consensus is that this machine is fairly good value for the money. There are some comments however that the vacuum is a bit loud and that too much plastic is used in the construction. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews] Consumer ratings for this machine are not plentiful but several were found and are provided in the table below.
Owner comments also indicate these common vacuum pros and cons: PROS CONS The Hoover UH30300 is a bagged upright vacuum cleaner and is powered by a 12 amp motor. Most full size vacuums use a 12 amp motor but occasionally you will see lower amp machines. The UH30300 uses Hoover’s WindTunnel technology, a system that uses three distinct air channels to lift and trap dirt very efficiently while ensuring limited scattering (at least according to Hoover engineers this is what it does - a more detailed explanation of WindTunnel technology is hard to find). The vacuum does use cyclonic suction which helps keep filters cleaner longer and ensures very little loss of suction while you vacuum. Many owers have commented on the very strong suction of this vacuum. ![]() Hoover Clean Drop Bags Hoover has also patented a system to help limit your exposure to dust and dirt when removing and disposing of vacuum bags. This involves using something they call “Clean-Drop Bags”. This approach allows one to lift the bags from the vacuum without touching them - they remain attached to the bag door which is released with a one-touch mechanism. They can then be dropped directly into the trash via the single push of a button. One does not have to handle the bag in any way. A “bag-check” indicator is also provided and this turns from green to red when it is time to change the vacuum bag. It should be noted that this indicator may also change to red in the event of a vacuum obstruction (a blockage to the airflow). The vacuum bags used in this machine are made with a special HEPA media that provides HEPA level filtration. HEPA filtration stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air and is a level of filtration that removes 99.97% of all airborne particulates of 0.3 microns or greater. This level of filtration has been used in the biomedical industry for many years to help inhibit the spread of airborne bacteria and viruses. HEPA filtration is particularly popular with allergy or asthma sufferers as it will remove dust, pet dander, dust mite feces, pollens and other allergens from the air. The Hoover UH30300 also has secondary and tertiary filters (motor filter and final filter). These filters are both washable. This Hoover WindTunnel T-Series upright is designed for both carpet and bare floors as it has a brushroll that can be turned on or off. The brushroll on/off feature allows for easy transition from carpet (brushroll on) to hard surfaces (brushroll off). It is also important to turn the brushroll off when using tools and attachments (as the upright is left in one place for significant lengths of time). The brushroll is turned on and off via a convenient foot pedal. A brushroll height adjustment knob is also provided and this enables one to set the brushroll to 5 different heights ensuring the optimal cleaning distance from the floor surface. Belt changes and brushroll cleaning are made uncomplicated by easy access to these areas of the machine. Two levers are flipped and both the belt area and brushroll are exposed. The brushroll comes out to aid in a belt change or for cleaning. The UH30300 includes several specialized tools: The hose on the vacuum is a stretch hose with a length of 8 feet. Some consumers have commented that this is shorter than they would have liked. The weight of this vacuum is 15 lbs. This is quite light for an upright and there are a number of owner comments to this end. But there are lighter uprights such as the Hoover UH30010COM. Another practical feature on this vacuum is the thermal protection shutoff. This shuts the motor off if it starts to overheat, thereby potentially saving the motor from burning out. Overheating may occur due to some kind of airflow obstruction – full bag, dirty filters, blockage in hose or nozzle, etc. If the thermal protection shutoff kicks in you will only be able to restart the vacuum after about 30 minutes which is the time it takes for the motor to sufficiently cool. The UH30300 power cord is 30 feet in length which in our opinion is respectable. Many vacuums have short power cords (we consider anything less than 30 feet a little short) and this is often a source of owner dissatisfaction. There is also a clip below the handle on this Hoover that keeps the cord out of the way while you are vacuuming. There is no automatic cord rewind feature however. Additional vacuum features include a handy vacuum on/off control on the handle near your fingertips, a headlight for vacuuming in dim areas, and a bumper to ensure no scuffs or scrapes on furniture or walls. The UH30300 sports a 14 inch wide cleaning path and carries a 2-year limited parts and labor manufacturer’s warranty. It comes in Seaside Blue and is both UL and CSA listed.
