Miele Vacuum Reviews

Are Miele vacuums worth the money? Which one is best? Read our reviews to find out. We look at features, warranty, pros & cons, consumer ratings, specifications, and much more.

Miele started by making cream separators in the late 1800’s. Headquarters are in Germany and the company has grown to have an annual turnover in excess of 3 billion dollars. Production of Miele vacuums began in the 1920’s and today Miele vacuum cleaners are very well-known and the brand is synonymous with quality. They make stick vacs, uprights and canisters which frequently garner high consumer ratings. They are known for being powerful yet quiet and good for allergy sufferers and pet owners. They also feature prominently in our top vacuum lists.

Miele Complete C2 Limited Edition Review

Avg. consumer rating = 93/100

The Miele Complete C2 Limited Edition canister vacuum is a favorite with owners.  It gets very good ratings and comments and is a great fit for homes with bare floors, low pile carpet and some area rugs.  The machine is not such a good fit for those with deeper pile carpet.  It is a quiet, well built vacuum with variable suction and an auto-rewind power cord.  However genuine Miele bags are not cheap and some folks feel that the power cord is too short resulting in the need to frequently plug and unplug the vacuum when moving from one area to another.

Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog Canister Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 94/100

The Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog Canister Vacuum Cleaner gets excellent ratings and reviews from owners.  It is also an attractive, well-built machine.  Consumers praise the unit’s quiet operation, ability to pick up pet hair, strong suction and robust filtration features.  It also comes with separate cleaner heads for carpet and bare floors, and the carpet tool is motorized so it is capable on low, medium and high pile carpet.  This is an expensive vacuum cleaner however and at most retail outlets it will set you back over $900.

Miele Alize Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Avg. consumer rating = 96/100

The Alize is a fantastic canister vacuum but it is important to understand what you are buying before you purchase.  Miele makes a wide range of canister vacuums each with a host of different features and attachments.  The Alize is a great machine for cleaning smooth surfaces like hardwood floors, tile or vinyl.  It is also effective on flat weave rugs and low pile carpet.  However – with its existing set of attachments – it may not be the best choice for homes with lots of carpet (especially medium to deep pile carpet).

Miele Delphi Canister Vacuum

 Avg. consumer rating = 94/100

The Miele S2121 Delphi canister vacuum is designed for bare floors and low-to-medium pile carpet.  It has recently been renamed to the "Miele Classic C1 Delphi Canister Vacuum Cleaner".  It is now blue in color but otherwise the same machine. It has variable suction as well as a host of other features. In addition, high consumer ratings suggest that it is indeed well-liked by its owners. The vacuum is also quiet, lightweight and not too large. However, it does not come with a specialized bare floor tool (like it’s more expensive brother, the Titan) and some owners feel this is a drawback.

Miele Quartz Canister Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 92/100

Let’'s cut to the chase.  The Miele S6270 Quartz is a great vacuum IF you have lots of bare floors to clean and a few area rugs or a small amount of low pile carpet.  It is not the best machine for a home or apartment with lots of carpet - especially medium to high pile carpet.  The floor tool has no brushbar which limits its performance on deeper carpet.  Aside from this the Quartz is lightweight, very quiet and powerful. It also has effective filtration, variable suction and is well built.

Miele S7280 Jazz Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Avg. consumer rating = 85/100

Designed for 20 years of residential use, the Miele Jazz (recently renamed the Miele Dynamic U1 Jazz) gets very solid ratings from consumers. Like most machines from this German manufacturer the Jazz is expensive, but it does deliver. Powered by a 1200 watt ultra quiet motor, it has very strong suction and does an excellent job cleaning carpet and bare floors. It also includes 3 levels of filtration and the HEPA filter with activated charcoal ensures fresh smelling air free of most allergens. Some consumers find the machine a bit heavy however and consumables like bags and filters are not cheap.

Miele Red Velvet Canister Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 89/100

The Red Velvet (model S6270) is part of Miele'’s latest series of canister vacuum cleaners, the S6 series.  The Red Velvet is rather unique with its soft red velvet finish on the canister surface.  The vacuum is best suited for smooth flooring and low pile carpet as the brushes in the nozzle are air-driven.  It also includes an AirClean filter, several attachments, a stainless steel telescopic wand, suction controls and a 7-year warranty on the motor and vacuum casing.  Consumer ratings, while few, are very good.

Miele Quickstep S194 Stick Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 83/100

The Miele Quickstep S194 is Miele’'s latest stick vacuum and while consumer ratings are few, those that are available indicate a respectable level of satisfaction.  Owners praise the Quickstep'’s power, quiet operation and ability to pull up pet hair.  Some do find the vacuum a bit on the heavy side however.  It should also be noted that this stick vacuum is best for hard floors and low pile carpet.  Like most stick vacs it is not intended for deep pile or plush carpet cleaning.

Miele Capri Canister Vacuum

 Avg. consumer rating = 94/100

The Miele Capri is the latest addition to the popular S2 series of canister vacuum cleaners.  It is a step up from the more affordable Olympus as it has both carpet and bare floor tools (as opposed to a combination tool) and it gets very good grades from consumers.  Owners praise its powerful suction and also like that it is lightweight and quiet.  However like all of the machines in the S2 series the power cord is a little short. (2016 Update: This is now called the Classic C1 Capri and ratings are still top-notch.)

Miele Bolero

 Avg. consumer rating = 83/100

The Miele S7580 Bolero is now known as the Dynamic U1 AutoEco (Miele's new name for this machine).  It is one of the Premium Class vacuums in the S7 upright series.  It is powerful, quiet, maneuverable and loaded with features such as suction control, automatic height adjustment and a special HEPA filter that includes activated carbon for odor removal.  Consumer reviews are few but generally quite good and most owners are pleased with their purchase.  The machine is a little heavy however and, like many Miele vacuum cleaners, it is not cheap.

Miele Cat and Dog S7260

 Avg. consumer rating = 75/100

The Miele Cat and Dog S7260 (now known as the Miele Dynamic U1 Cat & Dog) is part of Miele'’s S7 line of upright vacuum cleaners.  The Cat and Dog gets reasonable consumer ratings and is loaded with features.  Owners like the the look and feel of the unit with many commenting on the quality fit and finish. It has powerful suction yet still manages to be fairly quiet and is capable on both carpet and bare floors. It is also very effective at pulling up pet hair. The downsides of this machine are its weight, its cost, and, more recently, increasing problems over the lifetime of the vacuum.

Miele Capricorn

Avg. consumer rating = 94/100

If you want quality and don’t like to compromise then the Miele Capricorn may be the right vacuum cleaner for you.  It is made in Germany, has a life expectancy of some 20 years, and comes with many, many features.  The Miele S5981 Capricorn is the top end of the Miele Canister vacuum cleaners and, as expected, it also gets very good ratings from owners.  The downside of this machine is that it is expensive.

Miele S5381 Leo Canister Vacuum

 Avg. consumer rating = 88/100

The Miele Leo is powerful, lightweight and quiet - a tough combination to beat.  It is part of the S5 series of vacuums which are Miele'’s high-end machines and they come with a host of features and options.  Consumer ratings are not widely available for this vacuum but those found indicate a high level of satisfaction.

Miele Twist Upright Vacuum (model S7210)

Avg. consumer rating = 79/100

Miele have been manufacturing floor care products for 80 years and they are famous for making quality vacuum cleaners.  We've reviewed several of their canister vacuums and stick vacuums in the past and in most cases have found them to be solid products.  The S7210 Twist (now renamed the Miele Dynamic U1 Twist) is the first full-size Miele upright we have looked at, but it does not rate as highly as their canister machines.  It uses a powerful Miele-made vortex motor, has automatic height adjustment, a very long 39 foot power cord and also comes with variable suction control.

Miele Olympus

Avg. consumer rating = 91/100

Like many of its canister brothers the Miele Olympus vacuum cleaner (recently renamed to the Miele Classic C1 Olympus vacuum cleaner) receives high grades from consumers.  Owners praise the vacuum for its powerful suction yet quiet operation.  It is also very effective on bare floors. However if this unit has a weakness it is likely its limited cleaning ability on carpet.  On very low-pile carpet it is ok, but it struggles with anything deeper than this.

Miele S4212 Polaris Vacuum Cleaner

Avg. consumer rating = 78/100

The Miele S4212 Polaris canister vacuum gets average grades from consumers.  It is the least expensive of the Miele S4 series of canisters and is recommended for short-pile carpet, area rugs and hard surface floors.  Consumers like the Polaris'’ light weight, variable suction and extremely quiet operation.  On the downside the power cord is a little short.

Miele S168 Stick Vacuum

 Avg. consumer rating = 66/100

The Miele S168 stick vacuum is the latest Miele stick vac and it is slightly more advanced (and more expensive) than the S163.   The suction on the S168 is fully variable and some consumers heap praise on this machine for its power and its ability to run very quietly.  On the downside, even though rather light for an upright, it is considered by many to be too heavy for a stick vacuum.

Miele Neptune Canister Vacuum

 Avg. consumer rating = 81/100

With a score of 81/100 from consumers the Miele Neptune stands out as a good example of a solid canister vacuum.  The Miele Neptune is lightweight, compact and powerful.  It is not a machine however for deep pile carpet but it excels when applied to low or medium-pile carpeting, area rugs and smooth flooring.

Miele Titan Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Avg. consumer rating = 90/100

Miele has been around for over one hundred years and they have been manufacturing vacuum cleaners since 1927.  The S2 series of canister vacuum cleaners is fairly recent and the top model in this group is the Miele S2180 Titan (Recently renamed to the Miele Classic C1 Titan).  The Titan gets good ratings from consumers and is capable of cleaning all manner of flooring from bare floors to low and medium pile carpet.

Miele S5281 Callisto Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 92/100

The Miele Callisto is part of the Miele S5 series of vacuums.  The S5 series are Miele'’s higher-end canister vacuums, with the S4 and S2 series being typically more affordable.  The Callisto has been around for some time and is now paired with the new SEB228 Heavy Duty Powerhead (for both high and low-pile carpet) and the SBB300-3 Parquet Floor Brush (for bare floor cleaning).  This canister vacuum gets very good consumer ratings and is said to be powerful yet still quiet.

S5 Miele

Miele German-made canister vacuums are extremely well-liked and highly rated by consumers.  Their top of the line canister vacuums are the S5’s.  So which S5 Miele canister vacuum is best for your needs?  It seems like a simple question, but once you start doing a little investigating it quickly becomes confusing.  Different models are recommended for different flooring, however several models get the same recommendation.  The vacuums also have a wide range of features that vary model to model – and optional attachments.  In this article we have gathered and organized key vacuum information in such a way as to make your choice a little bit easier.

Miele Canister Vacuums
