The Hoover Commercial Portapower Vacuum, or Hoover CH3000 as it is also known, is fairly new to the market and is the replacement (new version) of the Hoover Portapower C2094.  This is a compact, portable vacuum with good suction and plenty of attachments.  It is also not too expensive.  There are few consumer reviews on this vacuum presently but those that are available indicate that it is a well-liked machine.  The star ratings are also very good, although limited in number.  [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010]

There are two Miele S4212 vacuums - the S4212 Polaris and the S4212 Neptune.  The base model, the Miele S4212 Polaris is the replacement for the Miele S4210 Carina.   It should be noted that the S4212 Polaris is entirely the same vacuum with the same features as the S4210 Carina.  The only difference is the color - the Polaris is a light blue color (baby blue) while the Carina is a light yellow.  Like the S4210 Carina, the S4212 Polaris is the entry level Galaxy S4 series Miele canister vacuum, and like the Carina it is recommended for short-pile carpeting, area rugs and smooth flooring. The Hoover UH70015 has lifetime washable filters (with HEPA), very strong suction and a lengthy warranty of 6 years.  This vacuum used to be fairly expensive (400+USD) rivaling the price of a Dyson, but the price has come down lately (less than 300USD through some sources). The Hoover S3670 WindTunnel Bagged Canister vacuums gets good grades from some consumers and poor grades from others.  People like the vacuum’s strong suction and stylish looks but are unhappy with its poorly designed hose and overly-plastic construction.  [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010]

There are two DC25 models.  The DC25 All-Floors and the DC25 Animal.  It seems the only difference between the two (besides the colour) is that the DC25 Animal comes with an extra tool called the mini turbine tool.  Does this make the DC25 Animal worth the extra money?  [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009]

The Bissell 1200B SpotBot is not a steam cleaner – rather it is a specialized unit for cleaning carpet stains (Bissell categorizes the SpotBot under “Compact Deep Cleaners”).  The Bissell 1200B gets excellent consumer ratings, and reviews indicate that it is very easy to use and can effectively remove all manner of carpet stain.  [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2010]

The Black & Decker PSV1800, sometimes called the Black & Decker Pivot Vac, is a bagless and cordless stick vacuum that is effective on both bare floors and carpets.  It lasts a fairly long time on a single charge and comes with a 2-year warranty.  There are some consumer comments that it is awkward emptying the dirt canister however.  [REF Black & Decker Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009]

This handheld vacuum gets excellent consumer reviews, averaging about 9 out of 10.  It has powerful suction and a long lasting battery charge. Many Dyson aficionados who have had great experiences with Dyson uprights have jumped at the opportunity to own a Dyson handheld - but consumer reviews and ratings for the Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld have been mixed.   It has strong suction, is low maintenance and comes with good attachments, but many consumers are unhappy with the limited battery life. The Eureka 437AZ is an inexpensive and lightweight upright vacuum that many consumers feel is a good buy - it typically retails for less than 80 USD.  It has great suction but is fairly small and according to those who purchased the vacuum, is preferred for smaller areas and not large house-wide cleaning jobs.  The vacuum could be considered a hybrid of a conventional upright and a stick vacuum.  [REF Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009]

After a number of comments asking us to review the likes of Miele, Lindhaus and Sebo we have undertaken our first Miele review.  Were we impressed?  Well, yes actually.  We typically have reviewed some of the more moderately priced brands of vacuum cleaners and the three aforementioned can be a bit pricey, however the Miele S4210 (Carina version at least) can be found at some websites/stores for under 400 USD.  Not cheap but then again not over the top for a machine with fantastic reviews and a 7 year motor warranty (yes – 7 years).
