The Hoover S3765-040 uses Hoover’s patented WindTunnel technology. Hoover does not go into great detail about how the WindTunnel technology works other than to say their engineers went to great lengths to develop a system that lifts and traps dirt very efficiently without any scattering. Reviews and ratings on this vacuum seem to vary widely, from good on Amazon to fairly average on Epinions. [REF Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2008]

The Bissell 82H1 seems to be fairly popular and gets good reviews from most consumers. It is also inexpensive (under 100USD) and is purported to be effective on both carpets and bare floors. Bissell has been providing floorcare products for over 125 years and they are best known for carpet cleaners (they are also fairly active in the community). The Bissell 3920 Pet Hair Eraser appears to be another in the line of “love it or hate it” vacuum cleaners. Many consumers indicate that it does a great job, has fantastic suction and is good value for the money (several even feel it does a better job on animal hair than the Dyson Animal models). However there are also folks that give this vacuum cleaner less than stellar ratings, citing decreased suction over time, an overly aggressive brushbar and a “messy to empty” dirt canister. The Panasonic MC UG471 is a fairly basic machine that is not too expensive – a little over 100 USD at most stores. But it does have most of what counts: strong suction, HEPA filter, and a range of tools. It is also noted to be reasonably quiet and very good on carpet (less-so on bare floors). Hoover is a very well established brand. So much so that the British often refer to a vacuum cleaner as a “hoover”. The company manufacturers many electrical household items and has been around since the early 1900’s. They have recently released a series of vacuums coined “anniversary”. This is to commemorate their 100th anniversary - and one of the popular anniversary vacuums is the “Hoover U5786900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner”. Electrolux seem to have developed a winner with the Electrolux EL1012A Stick Hand Vac 2 N 1 Ergorapido Cordless (although we wish vacuum cleaner manufacturers could find a way to make less complicated names). Consumers give this stick vacuum very good reviews with few disparaging remarks. [REF Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] |

A short but sweet review of the Dirt Devil 082500 Breeze Bagless Canister vacuum. This vacuum cleaner gets fairly good reviews and is also relatively inexpensive for a canister vacuum. Consumers indicate a number of pros and cons but in general feel that it is a good buy for the money – particularly for hardwood floors. [REF Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] |

The Hoover Linx Cordless Hand Vac is part of the Hoover Platinum Collection, and as a result comes with the six year limited warranty – nothing to sneeze at. This is a powerful and stylish handheld vacuum with very long battery life, but it is not cheap.

Dyson claim that their vacuums don’t clog or lose suction and that they are durable and easy to use. Dysons are certified asthma friendly according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and they have a fairly long warranty (typically 5 years). They are also very popular with consumers. The Dyson DC15 Animal is no exception, and like most Dysons, (with the exception of some of their handheld models), gets very good consumer ratings. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] |

The Dyson DC14 All-Floors comes with a motorized brushbar, the standard Dyson Root Cyclone technology (ensuring strong and continous suction) and a lifetime HEPA filter. Coupled with a 5-year warranty this makes for a decent vacuum cleaner and consumer ratings bear this out. [REF Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] |

The Bissell Lift-Off MultiCyclonic Pet Vacuum (model 89Q9) is a bagless, upright with a number of great features – detachable canister, headlight, HEPA filter, 30 foot power cord, 15 inch cleaning path, rotating brush power on/off switch, etc. Bissell indicates that the unit is good for both carpet and bare floors. It gets decent consumer reviews and is not too expensive (under 200USD). [REF Bissell Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] |

Not to be confused with the similar looking 3670A, the Eureka 3670G Mighty Mite Canister vacuum cleaner gets fairly good consumer ratings, is lightweight, powerful and inexpensive. [REF Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Reviews 2009] |
