Hoover Vacuum Reviews

Hoover started in the early 1900’s in the USA. While popular in the US the vacuums were even more popular in the UK and Ireland - so much so that in the UK a vacuum cleaner is still known colloquially as a Hoover. Hoover manufacture a wide array of home cleaning machine including both bagged and bagless uprights and canisters, as well as stick vacs, handhelds, carpet cleaners and hard floor cleaners. There are a huge number of different machines and models and costs tend to be about average.

Hoover BH50030 LINX Pet Hand Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 87/100

This is a similar handheld vacuum to the Hoover BH50015 but it is geared towards households with pets.  It comes with a specialized pet hair tool and is getting very solid consumer reviews and ratings.  It is a cordless and bagless unit that comes with “fade-free” power - the result of using a lithium-ion battery.  Many owners also feel the battery charge lasts a reasonable amount of time.

Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Pet Upright Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 83/100

The Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Pet Upright Vacuum (model UH30310) is a bagged upright that comes with a few extra tools for vacuuming up pet hair.  Consumers report that this machine is indeed very good at picking up pet hair, and they also like the long power cord, the light weight and the fact that it is not too expensive.  However some folks wish that the vacuum came with more than one wand and it does have a lot of plastic in its construction.

Hoover UH70210 Pet Rewind Bagless Upright

Avg. consumer rating = 82/100

Owners of the Hoover UH70210 WindTunnel Pet Vacuum give it very good marks for its ability to pick up unruly pet hair.  They are also pleased with its strong suction and washable HEPA filter.   However some find the hose a little short and the dirt canister tricky to empty.  All-in-all consumer reviews are quite favorable, giving the UH70210 consistently 4 out of 5 stars or better.

Hoover S3755 WindTunnel Canister Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 77/100

The Hoover S3755 WindTunnel vacuum gets mixed reviews although it has been recommended by a leading consumer magazine.  It comes with all the bells and whistles and consumers like the fact that it is powerful, easy to maneuver and has good attachments, but a number of folks feel that the dirt canister is too small and requires frequent emptying.

Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Vacuum UH70105

Avg. consumer rating = 71/100

The Hoover WindTunnel UH70105 is a bagless upright that gets average consumer reviews.  A powerful yet relatively light vacuum cleaner, it can sometimes be found for less than $100USD.  It comes with a number of tools, HEPA filtration and it carries a 2-year warranty.

Hoover UH60010

Avg. consumer rating = 80/100

The Hoover UH60010 is a self-propelled bagless upright that gets relatively good consumer ratings but not stellar.  It comes with a large number of features including a handheld pet hair tool, but the warranty on this machine is short at only 1 year.

Hoover Platinum Collection

The Hoover Platinum Collection of vacuum cleaners is worth a page of it's own.  We have reviewed every one of the vacuums in this collection and they all get very good consumer ratings as well as comments.  They are also all covered by a lengthy 6 year parts and labor warranty.

Hoover S3865

Avg. consumer rating = 59/100

Consumer reviews are on the low side for the Hoover S3865 Platinum Cyclonic Bagless Canister Vacuum.  Despite this, the Hoover.com site states that is has been rated as a “Best Buy” by Consumers Digest.  Comments from those who have purchased the vacuum indicate that it does a great job cleaning both hard surfaces and carpet and that the unit has very strong suction.  However it is quite heavy and the power cord is short.

Hoover UH50000 Windtunnel Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Avg. consumer rating = 70/100

According to the Hoover.com website the Hoover UH50000 TurboPower WindTunnel Anniversary-Edition Upright Vacuum Cleaner is a Consumers Digest Best Buy.  However consumer ratings and reviews (from those who have bought and experienced the vacuum) are average at best.  The Hoover Windtunnel vacuums do seem to get a lot of repeat customers however, and this may show a certain level of satisfaction with the brand and products through the years.

Hoover UH70120 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Avg. consumer rating = 81/100

This is a reasonably inexpensive bagless Hoover upright with most of the bells and whistles.  It is also viewed favorably by some consumers and is a recommended model by Consumer Reports Magazine.  It doesn'’t have the long warranty of those vacuums in the Hoover Platinum Series, but the two-years parts and labor warranty is still better than some of the other machines in this price range.

Hoover Commercial Portapower Vacuum Cleaner Review

Avg. consumer rating = 90/100

The Hoover Commercial Portapower Vacuum, or Hoover CH30000 as it is also known, is fairly new to the market and is the replacement (new version) of the Hoover Portapower C2094.  This is a compact, portable vacuum with good suction and plenty of attachments.  It is also not too expensive.  Consumer reviews and comments on this vacuum indicate that it is a well-liked machine.  Also, the star ratings from virtually every source are very good.

Hoover S3670 WindTunnel Bagged Canister Vacuum Review

Avg. consumer rating = 65/100

The Hoover S3670 WindTunnel Bagged Canister vacuums gets good grades from some consumers and poor grades from others.  People like the vacuum'’s strong suction and stylish looks but are unhappy with its poorly designed hose and overly-plastic construction.

Hoover EmPower Upright (U5269900) Vacuum Review

Avg. consumer rating = 76/100

The Hoover EmPower is a bagless, upright vacuum cleaner.  It is a good-looking machine and comes in only a silver/green color combination (see image in article).  It has HEPA filtration, a hush mode for quiet vacuuming and a Power Boost that is purported to help with “hard-to-clean-messes”.  This unit gets mixed reviews, with some consumers feeling that vacuum performs well and is an excellent choice for the money (the Hoover EmPower is often priced under 100USD) and other consumers indicating they were not impressed with the machines capabilities.

Hoover UH70015 Platinum Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Avg. consumer rating = 77/100

The Hoover UH70015 has lifetime washable filters (with HEPA), very strong suction and a lengthy warranty of 6 years.  This vacuum used to be fairly expensive (400+USD) rivaling the price of a Dyson, but the price has come down lately (less than 300USD through some sources).

Hoover U6485-900 Vacuum Review

Avg. consumer rating = 79/100

The Hoover U6485-900 Windtunnel Anniversary Vacuum Cleaner is a self-propelled, bagged upright with HEPA filtration.  Many consumers are sold on the self-propelling feature and also report that their purchase was based on the vacuum getting top-notch reviews by a leading Consumer Reports magazine.

Hoover H3060 Floormate Spinscrub 800 Wet/Dry Vacuum Cleaner Review

Avg. consumer rating = 82/100

This is an interesting vacuum cleaner.  A review of hundreds of comments seems to indicate that you either love this machine or you hate it.  This is a tricky review – and it could be that consumer’s expectations of a wet/dry vacuum cleaner are quite varied.   We see comments that it is too loud, followed by comments that it is fairly quiet, and several buyers feel that it does an excellent cleaning job while others are not as convinced.  It may also be (and we have read this too on occasion) that it requires a little practice to learn to use properly and one has to get the settings just right.  Having said that, there are clearly more consumers that like the vacuum as seen by the scores in Consumer Rating Table.

Hoover Platinum Collection Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum

 Avg. consumer rating = 85/100

The Hoover Platinum Collection Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum is sometimes referred to as the Platinum Collection Cordless Stick Vac or sometimes simply the BH50010 (which is the model number).  It is a cordless and bagless stick vacuum cleaner and is the first stick vacuum to come equipped with Hoover’s WindTunnel technology. Also, out of the 13 retail sites we found with consumer ratings, not one had ratings that averaged less than 4 stars out of 5, and most were higher.

Hoover U5491-900 Windtunnel Anniversary Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Avg. consumer rating = 81/100

The U5491-900 is a bagged upright vacuum cleaner that is not too expensive and gets quite good reviews.  It does not use a dirt-container like many of the bagless machines today, but instead uses a disposable bag. There is a long standing debate about whether bagged or bagless vacuum cleaners being better – bagged tend to make it easier to dispose of the collected dirt and it is cleaner to throw away the bag and put a new one in.  Bagless do not require purchasing and throwing away bags but it should be noted that they often have filters that need to be maintained or replaced and they rely on seals to prevent the dirt-container from leaking.

Hoover UH30010COM Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Canister

Avg. consumer rating = 86/100

This is a very popular upright and it is a bagged vacuum which we are seeing less of these days. – It also comes with a supplementary canister vacuum that you can wear over your shoulder.  This machine gets high marks for power, maneuverability, lightweight construction, and a 5-year warranty.  There is very little negative written about the Hoover UH30010COM.  However one should know that the brushroll in the upright cannot be turned off.
