The Dyson DC24 Ball Vacuum Cleaner Rating

Avg. consumer rating = 82/100

The DC24 Ball vacuum cleaner is another upright "Ball" vacuum cleaner from Dyson. Based on the unique Ball technology this vacuum is likely to be popular among those looking for a lightweight, compact cleaning machine. It will be available in the U.K. after 20 February 2008 and after 10 March in the US. Be sure to check Dyson’'s website for the exact date it will ship.  They are taking pre-orders at this time...

Could this be best vacuum cleaner ever by Dyson?  The DC24 comes with Dyson’s patented ball technology and it includes all of the following features: a motorised brushbar, washable HEPA filter, clear bin, auto height adjuster, and a combination accessory tool. It is suitable for all types of floors, from hard surfaces like tile and wood, to carpets and rugs. It also has attachment tools for cleaning upholstery and draperies.
The Dyson DC24 Ball is a fairly powerful machine and has a 6.5 amp motor.  The 6.1 meter cord allows for easy travel from room to room without unplugging.  It is lightweight, weighing just over 5 kg.  This should allow one to carry the vacuum cleaner comfortably to multiple levels of a home.

Filters & Bags

If you are an allergy sufferer you may wish to seriously consider a Dyson.  The Dyson DC24 Ball is approved by the British Allergy Foundation.  It features clean air exhaust so that virtually all allergens are removed from the environment.  Many other vacuums expel the debris that is not trapped by the filter back into the room. In a sense, you are just blowing the dust around instead of removing it. The Dyson lifetime washable HEPA filter keeps the dirt where it belongs, off of your floors and in the vacuum.
What do all of there features really mean to you, the consumer? A HEPA filter traps particles down to at least .03microns in size. Dust, pollen, dust mites, mould spores and other bacteria are all captured in this type of filter.  Many people have reactions to dust mites.  Not only are they a respiratory allergen, they can also cause contact dermatitis, resulting in itching and irritated skin. Removing the dust mite allergens from a household benefits everyone.   Additionally, it is stated that heating and air conditioning units will run more efficiently and carpets will last longer with this type of technology.

The DC24 is a bagless vacuum.  Many other styles of vacuums have bags. Bags can become overfilled resulting in a decrease in vacuum suction. In addition, bags require constant replacing. Bagless technology removes the added expense of messy papers bags. The Dyson DC24 is easy and sanitary to empty.  Never having to replace bags (or filters) likely saves one a significant amount of money over the life of a vacuum cleaner.

The Ball Technology

If you are unfamiliar with Dyson’s patented ball technology you may be surprised by this innovative approach to vauum cleaner locomotion.  Instead of a vacuum that travels on wheels, the Dyson Ball vacuums literally spin around on a ball, thus enabling tight turns and great manoeuvrability. This approach is said to make cleaning in cramped spaces and around furniture much simpler.  The Ball technology also makes the Dyson easy on wood floors that can be scratched by hard plastic or metal vacuum wheels.

I've had my Dyson DC 24 for seven years now, and it still is running strong just like the day we got it. I think it's a pretty amazing little vacuum cleaner. We are in a bigger house now and will need to upgrade, but I would recommend this back in cleaner to anybody. I think I'm going to give this one to a friend of the smaller apartment now.

I am delighted with my DC 24, very easy to use as I have back problems but like the others disappointed with the very short cable.

I\'ve had my DC24 for a year now. I still love it. It has as much pick-up power as it had the day we brought it home. Great for picking up pet hair. The cleanup is fast and no bags to deal with. I love it!!

I bought this little vacuum a couple days ago and am amazed at all the hair and stuff it is pulling out of my carpets! (yuck) I love the manuverability. It is slim so I don\'t have to move everything around to vacuum. The cord is a little short, but so what, just add an extension cord or plug it into another outlet.
