Make no mistake about it, this is an expensive machine - presently about 400USD at Amazon - however the reviews indicate that you get what you pay for. This unit gets very good ratings/reviews and there were over 190 that we found. This is a pretty solid sample size so clearly consumers that purchased this product (regardless of its cost) feel that it was worth the money and does what it was designed to do.
Features & Information
The Dyson form of locomotion is quite unique and it is said that the vacuum cleaner can easily change direction with a simple turn of the wrist. Dyson call this Ball technology and the vacuum essentially sits on a ball (it is the only rolling surface that touches the ground during operation) and can therefore be manuevered quite easily the 11 amp motor is also inside the ball ensuring a low center of gravity. To get an idea how this works check out the Dyson Ball Technology video at the top of our Vacuum Videos page.
The Dyson DC25 vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology that, according to Dyson, ensures that the vacuum cleaner doesnt lose suction (Dyson proves no loss of suction using the IEC 60312 Cl 2.9 test standard). Cyclonic suction involves spinning air at very high speed to throw dirt and dust out of the airflow and into the collection bin. This technology does not require bags or filters. TheDC25 has 220 air watts of suction power.
The Dyson DC25 uses a HEPA filter. What exactly is a HEPA filter? A HEPA filter (high efficiency particulate air) is a high-efficiency air filter that is capable of removing at least 99.97 percent of airborne particles 0.3 micrometers or larger. These filters are used for many applications in the nuclear and biomedical industries but have more recently found a home in the newer vacuum cleaner models. They are especially helpful to those suffering from asthma and allergies. Actually all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and the HEPA filter used by Dyson is washable and designed to last the lifetime of the vacuum. As the name states, the Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors is good for both hard surfaces and carpet. It has a motorized brushbar that can be turned on or off depending on the surface you are cleaning. Other features include a telescope reach wand, which provides up to 16 ft of reach for stairs, drapes, upholstery, etc. The clear plastic dirt container has a capacity of 0.31 gallons and empties from the bottom (this configuration apparently minimizes risk of contact with the dust and dirt). The power cord is 24.6 feet long, the DC25 dimensions (HxWxD) are 42.4 x 15.4 x 12.2 inches, and the vacuum weighs-in at just over 16 pounds. A combination tool and a stair tool are also provided (the Dyson Soft Dusting Brush is a popular attachment one can buy separately - it is for cleaning delicaite surfaces and is shown to the right in purple). The Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors comes with a respectable 5 Year Limited Manufacturers Warranty and a 7-day/week manufacturer's helpline for product support.
