Kirby is a division of Scott & Fetzer and is based in Cleveland, Ohio. The founder, Jim Kirby, designed his first vacuum in 1906. The company sells only one model at a time – their latest model. The most recent model of Kirby vacuum is the Sentria II System. Kirby vacuums are considered by most owners to be heavy, powerful and expensive. They also have a tendency to last a long time. The vacuums cannot be bought through retail outlets and are only sold through in-home demonstrations.
