Dyson Vacuum Reviews

Dyson Ltd is a British company founded in 1993 by James Dyson, an inventor and industrial designer. In the late 1970's Mr Dyson had the idea of cyclonic separation as a means of replacing the vacuum bag. After many years and many prototypes he managed to get his design licensed by a Japanese company. He used the money from the license to set up his own manufacturing company and today Dyson has become one of the best-known vacuum cleaner brands in the world. There are Dyson uprights, canisters and handheld/stick-vacs and they tend to be expensive.

 Avg. consumer rating = 90/100

The Dyson DC40 Multi-Floor is one of the more recent Dyson upright vacuum cleaners.  It uses Dyson'’s latest version of radial root cyclone technology which provides better airflow, and it has updated Dyson Ball Technology.  The Ball Technology now has more components inside the Ball and less clutter outside.  The DC40 is one of the more lightweight Dyson uprights yet it still manages to generate a respectable amount of suction. Owner ratings are excellent and most folks feel that the DC40, while expensive, is worth the money.

Avg. consumer rating = 88/100

When the Dyson DC34 was first released consumers were not that impressed and ratings were not particularly good.  However over the past several years ratings have continued to climb, perhaps as consumers have gotten used to the futuristic design and features. Consumer ratings for this machine are now quite good.  The DC34 is lightweight and has a reasonable amount of power but owners often complain of the short run time - a common complaint with the Dyson handheld and stick vacs.

Dyson DC41 Animal

Avg. consumer rating = 88/100

The Dyson DC41 is a fairly new product from Dyson (at the time of writing).  It is their latest Ball Upright vacuum cleaner and reviews are quite good to date.  The DC41 has undergone significant redesign to optimize performance and the result is a very powerful machine with automatic nozzle height adjustment (and a few more upgrades).  Consumers like the long power cord and the machine'’s ability to pick up pet hair, but some find that the vacuum profile makes it difficult to get under furniture.

Avg. consumer rating = 79/100

The Dyson DC26 Multi-Floor City Vacuum Cleaner is the smallest canister vacuum Dyson manufactures and it is indeed small.  So much so that the body of the vacuum will fit on a letter sized sheet of paper.  It is also powerful (especially for its size) and, as one would expect rather light.  The Dyson DC26 has most of the features of the larger Dyson canisters, however due to its size it is probably best suited for vacuuming smaller areas.

Dyson Digital Slim Vacuum (DC35)

Avg. consumer rating = 88/100

The Dyson Digital Slim is both a handheld and a stick vacuum.  It is driven by a powerful digital motor and comes with a floor tool capable of cleaning both carpet and bare floors.  A long aluminum wand also helps this unit clean from the floor to the ceiling effectively.  It uses lithium ion batteries for fast recharging and fade-free power.  Owners are pleased with the vacuum’s strong suction and build quality but feel it is quite costly and that it falls short in terms of battery power duration.

Dyson DC33 Multi floor

Avg. consumer rating = 81/100

This machine seems to have all the key vacuum cleaner features as well as very strong suction.  It is also not as expensive as some of the other Dyson uprights, however many consumers love this machine or hate it.  It does not get the very consistent high ratings of the Dyson DC25 Animal for example.   Owners are pleased with the powerful suction, long cord and large dirt canister however there are numerous comments regarding the less-than-stellar wand design and the noise generated when vacuuming on short carpet.

Dyson DC23 TurbineHead Canister Vacuum

Avg. consumer rating = 84/100

Consumer ratings for the Dyson DC23 TurbineHead Canister Vacuum are good -  not stellar - but typically greater than 4 stars out of 5.  For a Dyson it is not too pricey (depending on where you purchase) and it is said to have strong suction, work well on bare floors & rugs, and to be aesthetically pleasing (a lot of folks mention this).   On the other hand it is not as effective as the Dyson DC23 Motorhead on carpet due to its air driven brushbar.

 Avg. consumer rating = 87/100

The Dyson DC28 Animal is another Dyson machine made for households with pets.  On average it gets very good consumer ratings.  There are occasional grumblings – mostly related to the machine's weight, but consumers are generally thrilled with this unit’s powerful suction and ability to remove pet hair from almost all surfaces.  This vacuum does not evoke many middle of the road reviews.  Most love it but some don’t.

Avg. consumer rating = 85/100

The Dyson DC17 Animal gets good customer ratings -– and there are many ratings available as this is a popular machine.  Consumer comments indicate that it does indeed work very well on removing pet hair from most surfaces.  It can be a bit heavy for some folks however.

Avg. consumer rating = 80/100

The Dyson DC31 Handheld vacuum is widely available but consumer reviews and ratings at this time are sparse.  Having said that, those that can be found are not too bad.  It seems the DC31 is an improvement over the DC16, Dyson's first handheld attempt.

Avg. consumer rating = 65/100

Many Dyson aficionados who have had great experiences with Dyson uprights have jumped at the opportunity to own a Dyson handheld - but consumer reviews and ratings for the Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld have been mixed.   It has strong suction, is low maintenance and comes with good attachments, but many consumers are unhappy with the limited battery life.

Avg. consumer rating = 92/100

The Dyson DC23 Motorhead vacuum cleaner is not the most popular Dyson and there is little written about this particular machine.  However the few consumer reviews available do give it good ratings.  This is a bagless, canister vacuum with tremendous power and like most Dysons is fairly expensive.

Avg. consumer rating = 90/100

Dyson claims that its vacuums don'’t clog or lose suction and that they are durable and easy to use.  Dysons are certified asthma friendly according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and they have a fairly long warranty (typically 5 years).  They are also very popular with consumers.  The Dyson DC15 Animal is no exception, and like most Dysons it is a best seller and can be found at many retail outlets.

There are two DC25 models.  The DC25 All-Floors and the DC25 Animal.  It seems the only difference between the two (besides the color) is that the DC25 Animal comes with an extra tool called the mini turbine tool.  Does this make the DC25 Animal worth the extra money?

Avg. consumer rating = 88/100

The Dyson DC18 is a bagless, upright, HEPA vacuum cleaner.  It is Dyson'’s lightweight upright, weighing in at 6.7 kg (about 14.7lbs).  It has most of the same features as Dyson'’s heavier uprights and still delivers 200 air watts of suction power.  It gets very solid consumer reviews but, like most Dyson machines, is not cheap.

Avg. consumer rating = 92/100

Make no mistake about it, this is an expensive machine -– presently about 400USD at Amazon -  however the reviews indicate that you get what you pay for.  This unit gets very good ratings/reviews and there were over 190 that we found.  This is a pretty solid sample size so clearly consumers that purchased this product (regardless of its cost) feel that it was worth the money and does what it was designed to do.

Avg. consumer rating = 84/100

In this vacuum cleaner review we investigate the Dyson DC07, a vacuum that rates reasonably well according to what consumers report.  There are two Dyson DC07 models - the "All Floors" model and the "Animal" model.  These are referred to as the Origin range.  The Animal includes a Carpet Care Kit, a Low Reach Floor Tool (an attachment for easier cleaning under low furniture), and a Mini Turbine Head (special vacuum cleaner head that aids in removing pet hairs from upholstery, stairs, and cars).  The All Floors model does not have these features but comes standard with a reversible wand, a quick draw hose (instant 17ft extension), automatic adjustment to different carpet heights, and a brush angled to reach between the baseboard and the floor, flicking dust directly into the airflow...
