Avg. rating = 90/100

The Shark Navigator Light NV105 is a very basic, simple vacuum cleaner. It does not have a lot of features or bells and whistles.  Its competitive advantages are that it is very lightweight for an upright and that it is not particularly costly.  This approach seems to have worked and most owners are pleased with their purchase.  They like the light weight, powerful suction, lack of consumables (filters/bags), and small footprint of the machine.  However there are some drawbacks such as the limited capacity of the dust canister, the short hose, and the small cleaner head.

We looked at the Shark APEX (model AX952) back in December of 2017.  It is a popular machine and it comes with the lift-away feature, two brushrolls, and a powered tool.  The Shark APEX in this review is a newer machine and is model AZ1002.  It has all the same features as the older APEX but also includes Zero-M Technology.  Zero-M Technology utilizes a specially designed brushroll and comb in the cleaner head which remove tangled hair as you vacuum.

Shark ION W1 Handheld Pros & Cons

The Shark ION W1 Handheld vacuum cleaner is cordless, stylish and lightweight.  It is designed for quick pick-ups and can be placed within easy reach on a counter-top, shelf or floor.  This is a powerful little unit that charges quickly and also includes 2 tools.  However it does have some issues.  In this article we highlight the good and the bad.  We also provide videos.

Shark ION P50 Pros & Cons

In this article we discuss the pros and cons of the Shark ION P50 cordless vacuum cleaner.  The P50 is an interesting machine and it falls somewhere between a stick vacuum and an upright vacuum – perhaps leaning a little more towards being an upright.  It has a host of features and is quite a versatile unit.  But it also has some faults.  In this article we discuss both the good and the bad, and also provide videos.

Shark Navigator Zero-M Pros & Cons
The Shark Navigator Zero-M Lift Away Speed is an interesting machine.  It is your basic Shark Navigator vacuum that comes with a feature called Zero-M Technology.  Zero-M Technology is designed to remove hair that gets wrapped around the brushroll.  This is a particularly helpful feature for households with pets.  In our tests the technology worked quite well – you can see the tests in the videos below.  Without such a technology one has to manually remove hair from the brushroll, and this can be a trying task depending on how easy/difficult it is to access the brushroll.

Shark ION P50 Review

Avg. rating = 88/100

Like a number of other Shark vacuums we have tested, the P50 is somewhat unique.  Shark has managed to pack a host of features into one machine and in so doing created a vacuum that is both fascinating and a little hard to classify.  But that doesn’t mean it isn’t good.  On the contrary, the P50 does many things well.  It is lightweight for an upright, it is cord-free, it has a removable battery, it uses two brushrolls, and it can be used - to some degree - as an upright, a stick vac, or a handheld.  However, it’s not as powerful as most full-size corded uprights, and it’s not as light and maneuverable as most smaller stick vacs.

Shark ION Handheld Vacuum

Avg. rating = 84/100

The new Shark ION W1 cordless handheld vacuum gets big marks for sleek and stylish design.  It looks good just sitting on your countertop or shelf.  But does it back that up with performance?  We were pleasantly surprised at how well this small, lightweight handheld worked.  It is powerful for its size and in most instances pickup was good.  The recharge time is also very reasonable.  In addition, it has a washable filter and is easy to empty.  On the downside, the dust canister is rather small and it does not come with a motorized tool which can be helpful when dealing with ground-in debris and pet hair.

Shark Navigator Zero-M

Avg. rating = 90/100

The Shark Navigator Zero-M Lift Away Speed is a bagless upright vacuum with an interesting technology Shark calls “Zero-M”. This technology is designed to automatically remove tangled hair from the brushroll. In this review we test the claim. The vacuum is also capable of cleaning both carpet and bare floors, and it has HEPA level filtration as well as Shark’s famous lift-away system. Most owners seem very pleased with the vacuum and cite powerful suction, light weight, and the Zero-M technology as reasons. However, the power cord is a bit short and while there are several tools, only one stores on-board.

Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360

Avg. consumer rating = 91/100

The Shark Navigator Lift Away Deluxe model NV360 is reasonably priced for what you get.  It is one of the higher consumer-rated vacuums in its price point.  Owners like the strong suction, lift-away feature, rinsable filters, and swivel steering.  It also has brushroll on/off controls which make the vacuum effective on both carpet and bare floors.  In addition, it comes with four handy tools.  However, the lack of height controls can make it difficult to push on deeper carpet, and it is also a bit top heavy so it gets pulled over easily when using the hose/wand/tools.

Avg. consumer rating = 85/100

I have to admit when I got the Shark ION Robot 750 I was somewhat dubious about robotic vacuums.  I’m kind of old school and am used to upright vacuums, canister vacuums, stick vacuums – that kind of thing.  I figured small robotic units were novel and interesting but perhaps not really that useful.  I have now changed my tune – somewhat.   Indeed the unit will not do the job of a larger manual vacuum but that is not really the intended purpose.  This machine is designed to keep your floors “reasonably clean” with “minimal effort” expended on your part, and it does that fairly well.

Shark APEX DuoClean Vacuum Review

Avg. consumer rating = 90/100

Shark refers to the APEX series as their “most advanced upright vacuums”.  These are full size vacuums with DuoClean Technology (2 brushrolls), HEPA filtration, an anti-allergen complete seal system, noise reduction technology, a lift-away canister, and Active-Glide Technology.  There are several APEX models and in this review we discuss the AX952.  Owners are mostly very pleased with this powerful, all-around, bagless upright vacuum.  This is a versatile machine and it can clean bare floors and carpet, it can do overhead cleaning, and also portable vacuuming (using the lift-away feature).  The full size APEX vacuums are not particularly lightweight however.

Shark IONFlex Cordless Vacuum Review

Avg. consumer rating = 78/100

The Shark IONFlex 2X IF252 is another interesting vacuum from Shark.  It is a bagless, cordless, stick vacuum that sports 2 brushrolls, 2 batteries, and a flexible wand that can bend a full 180 degrees.  Consumers like some aspects of this vacuum but are not too crazy about others.  In our testing we found the IF252 suction to be strong, especially for a cordless machine, and the unit’s cleaning performance on carpet, bare floors and pet hair is quite good.  It is a little on the hefty side for a stick vacuum and some folks feel the handheld component itself is bulky.  The MultiFLEX Technology (bendable wand) is something of a hit and miss.  It’s useful for storage and while it works for vacuuming under low furniture it can be a little awkward.

Avg. consumer rating = 94/100

The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Speed with DuoClean Technology (model NV801) uses the latest in upright vacuum technology from Shark. We’ve used this vacuum for a number of weeks and have also run it through several tests - so far we have been impressed. It is great on bare floors, effective on carpet, and capable on pet hair.  DuoClean technology does appear to add to the cleaning ability of the vacuum.  This is also a lift-away machine which really adds to its versatility. All of this has helped the NV801 make our list of the best Shark vacuums for pet hair. In terms of drawbacks, we would have liked a longer hose and the unit does have a rather narrow cleaner head.

Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away NR96

Avg. consumer rating = 89/100

The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Canister Vacuum model NR96 is getting very solid reviews and ratings from owners.  This is the first canister vacuum we have seen with the lift away feature - a feature that allows you to carry the motor/dust-canister assembly with one hand and the hose/wand with the other.  Owners like the lift away feature in their uprights and they also like it in this canister.  The vacuum also has HEPA filtration, a retractable power cord and a low profile nozzle.  In addition, it performs well on carpet, bare floors and pet hair.   The unit is on the small side however and this is reflected in the smaller nozzle and the dust canister.

Shark HV382 Pros Cons

In the following two videos we discuss the pros and cons of the Shark Rocket Complete TruePet with DuoClean – model HV382.  Consumers are quite pleased with this vacuum cleaner and when we averaged consumer ratings from 5 different retail sites we found a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 (or 92 out of 100).  This is a very good score.  You may wish to read our detailed Shark Rocket Complete Review or simply get the quick facts in this article.

Avg. consumer rating = 92/100

The Shark Rocket Complete TruePet with DuoClean (HV382) is an interesting vacuum. In many ways it adheres to typical vacuum design but in some ways it does not. First, it is something of a hybrid between a stick vac and an upright. Second, it has 2 brushrolls in the main nozzle, and comes with an odd looking “under-appliance” wand. Differences aside, does it work? In our testing & analysis the vacuum works quite well. It is versatile, has great suction, includes useful tools, and has a long power cord. But it does have a few drawbacks - there's no HEPA filter and it won't stand on its own.

Avg. consumer rating = 92/100

The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Speed (model NV682) is a 3-in-1 vacuum cleaner. It can be configured to operate as an upright, a canister and a handheld.  It has plenty of great features including HEPA filtration, a sealed system, a 30 foot power cord, 2 floor cleaning nozzles, and a very lengthy 7-year warranty. The NV682 is a good looking vacuum and is easy to use and maintain – it is bagless and all 3 filters are washable. The NV682 is lighter and smaller than its big brother the NV752 and as a result is easier to move but also has a shorter hose and smaller dust canister.

Shark Rocket PowerHead (AH452)

Avg. consumer rating = 94/100

The Shark Rocket PowerHead model AH452 is something of a hybrid between an upright and a stick vacuum.  It is fairly lightweight (for an upright) and has some unique design features including placing most components in the cleaner head and interchangeable brushrolls. Consumer ratings are excellent and owners like the strong suction, easy operation & maintenance, and also the performance on bare surfaces and carpet.  It does not come with a hose or attachments however and this reduces the machine’s ability to be an all-around vacuum cleaner.

Shark Navigator Deluxe NV42

Avg. consumer rating = 90/100

The Shark Navigator Deluxe NV42 is quite popular.  It is also reasonably priced and can generally be found for under $150. Owners like the fact that the machine has strong suction and performs well on both carpet and bare floors.  In addition, it works well on pet hair and is fairly quiet.  However It is advertised as lightweight but is really more of an average weight if compared to most uprights today.

Shark Rotator NV752 TruePet

Avg. consumer rating = 94/100

Ranked as our best upright for 2019 and one of our best vacuums for dealing with pet hair, the Shark Rotator NV752 Powered Lift-Away TruePet Vacuum delivers solid performance and is popular with consumers.  Owners give it consistently high ratings, and cite its powerful suction, 3-in-1 capabilities, and easy maneuverability as reasons.  It also comes standard with a host of useful attachments and tools.  However, like almost any vacuum the NV752 is not quite perfect and there are some issues.
