Dirt Devil Dynamite Bagless Upright (M084650)
- Details
Avg. consumer rating = 84/100
The Dirt Devil Dynamite M084650 is very reasonably priced and it receives mostly good grades from owners who are impressed with its strong suction, HEPA filtration, light weight and compact size. It can be found online for between $50 and$60 (at certain retail outlets) and is great for quick pick-ups and small area cleaning such as apartments. Due to its compact size however, it may not be the best choice for vacuuming large areas.

The Dirt Devil Dynamite is powered by a 7 amp motor. Despite the fact that it does not use a 12 amp motor like many of the larger uprights, most consumers indicate that it has strong suction. It also comes with a motorized rotating brushbar which makes it effective on carpet. It is actually designed for both carpet and bare floors and owner comments indicate that it is indeed capable on both types of flooring.
This is a compact vacuum, made even more-so by the retractable handle which can drop down such that the total vacuum height is 31 inches. The M084650 is also very lightweight at only 8.8 lbs (there are many different figures for the vacuum cleaner weight on retail sites but 8.8 lbs comes from the manufacturers specifications). In keeping with the units compact design, the nozzle width is a relatively narrow 11 inches about the same size as some stick vacs. The vacuum cleaner dimensions are 43 (H) x 11 (W) x 11(D) inches.
While the compact design and light weight make for simple storage, relatively effortless lifting and easy maneuverability, they also limit practicality of the unit with respect to large area cleaning. This somewhat small vacuum cleaner is best for small pick-ups and smaller area cleaning like apartments. It is perhaps not the best choice for larger, house-wide cleaning.
The Dirt Devil Dynamite Plus also comes with several tools that store on-board the vacuum. These include an extension wand, crevice tool and dusting brush. The machine also has a stretch hose that is 4 feet in length. Many owners indicate that the hose is a little short. With the extension wand the hose reach is extended to 5 feet or 60 inches.
As a bagless vacuum the Dynamite Plus comes with a dirt canister that is removed, emptied and reattached to the vacuum cleaner. The canister is clear plastic which helps one decide when it is full and needs emptying. It is also said by owners to be fairly easy to empty.
Like many vacuums on the market today the Dirt Devil Dynamite comes with HEPA filtration. HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air and is a filter that removes 99.97% of all airborne particulates of 0.3 microns or larger that pass through it. These filters are used for many applications in the nuclear and biomedical industries but have more recently found a home in vacuum cleaners. They are especially popular with those suffering from asthma and allergies as they remove the likes of pollen, ragweed, mold spores, dust mites, pet dander, etc.
The Dynamite Plus also sports a 25 foot power cord. This is a little short for a full size vacuum but for smaller area cleaning it is not too bad. Several consumers actually comment that they like the long power cord. The vacuum also carries a 1 year manufacturers warranty.
Note: There are several Dirt Devil vacuums that use the Dynamite descriptor. This review is for the model M084650, sometimes referred to as the Dirt Devil Dynamite Plus.
