Consumer Insights
Consumers often comment on various aspects of a vacuum cleaner and we have analyzed these comments to determine the most common likes and dislikes for the AS3030A.

PROS
- Brushroll on/off controls
- Retractable power cord
- Strong suction
- Quick and easy to assemble
- Not too expensive
- Fairly good on carpet and bare floors

CONS
- Tools frequently fall off the machine
- Short hose
- A bit loud
- Quality of build is not great

Eureka Airspeed Unlimited Side ViewProbably the most common complaint about the Eureka Airspeed Unlimited Rewind is that the build quality is not very high.  There are quite a few reports of parts breaking or features malfunctioning only a short time after the vacuum was purchased (belt breaks, no suction, vacuum turns itself off, etc).  Consumers also often highlight concerns that plasticky and flimsy vacuum parts may break.

There are as many comments about the vacuum being heavy as there are about it being lightweight.  The AS3030A vacuum weighs about average for an upright so these comments are likely a function of what particular owners are used to.

Additional issues include on-board tools frequently falling off the machine and the vacuum being on the loud side.

However, owners appear mostly happy with the unit’s performance on bare floors and carpet, and are very pleased with the retractable power cord.

Details & Specifications
Eureka has a number of AirSpeed machines at this time.  Airspeed technology involves utilizing a short but large diameter air pipe (with few bends) between the floor and the dust canister. The exhaust pipe is also larger to accommodate the increased airflow through the machine. This approach is said to increase vacuum suction and dirt removal (a claim by Eureka).

The AS3030A is a bagless vacuum cleaner that uses cyclonic suction.  This is the technology used by most bagless vacuums today.  This involves rapidly spinning the air pulled into the vacuum thereby throwing the dust and debris out of the airpath and into the dust canister (perhaps a simplistic explanation but more or less how it works).  This technology helps to keep the filters clean and is also noted for its sustained suction while the dust canister fills.

The vacuum has a powered brushroll as well as brushroll on/off controls.  This is important as it allows the vacuum to clean both carpet and bare floors - brushroll ON for carpet and area rugs, brushroll OFF for bare floors.  The control for this is actually a foot pedal on the vacuum nozzle.  There is another foot pedal on the nozzle as well and this is the vacuum power on/off.

5 height settings are provided via a manual dial on the vacuum nozzle.  These raise or lower the nozzle allowing it to move on different pile carpet.

The vacuum comes with several tools including the following:
- Stair & Upholstery Turbo Nozzle (suction driven tool)
- Dusting Brush
- Crevice Tool

These tools fit on the end of the 10 foot stretch hose and extension wand.  The hose and wand together provide 12 feet of cleaning reach.  There is an airflow control switch on the vacuum with two settings:“Tools” and “Floors”.  You must set this switch to “Tools” if you want to use the above tools/attachments. This transfers all the airflow from the nozzle to the extension hose.  When not using tools/attachments this needs to be set to “Floors”.

The stair & upholstery turbo nozzle can be seen on the end of the hose and wand in the image below:

The AS3030A has a feature you don’t often see on an upright - an automatic rewind power cord (see image below).  These are more common on a canister vacuum, but no matter what style of vacuum cleaner you see this on, it is always a popular feature.  It seems folks really don’t like having to manually wrap a power cord.  The power cord on this vacuum is 27 feet in length and is retracted via a push button just above the cord storage area.

The vacuum has a dust cup filter and a second filter described by Eureka as a high efficiency allergen filter.  We note that nowhere is this allergen filter indicated to be a HEPA level filter so we assume it is not.  Both filters on this vacuum are washable and reusable.

Additional features include a 13 inch wide cleaning path (about average), an easy to empty dust canister, and soft rubber wheels to ensure no marring of hard floors.  The AS3030A weighs in at 15.5 lbs which is about average for an upright - not particularly light and not particularly heavy.  The vacuum also carries a 3-year warranty.
